Vista: Space Center Houston
Lunch
Before heading to the Space Center I’m going to grab some lunch at a Mexican restaurant that’s just around the corner from the hotel, Lupe Tortilla.
I’m sure it’s fine.
I lived close to the Mexican border for a few years. This is the beer we drank back then. And if I recall correctly Modelo was the cheap dollar beer in the Mexican bars at the time. Now you can’t find Carta Blanca anywhere it seems.
I did this create your own option with a tamale, chalupa, and a puffy taco. It was all good, but that tamale was really good.

I guess this is where you go when you can’t take anymore screaming kids.

Mission Control Tour
The viewing room we got to go in was the white room which has been used for mission control. Currently the blue room down the hall is mission control. The blue room is on the TV screens. The white room will be used for some future mars missions but right now it’s a classroom for people training to be in the real room.

These bikes are interesting because you see them all over the place–randomly all over parking lots. The story is in the 1960’s Schwinn donated all of these bikes to NASA so their employees wouldn’t have to drive their cars from building to building. They just pick up a bike where they need it and drop it for someone else when they’re done. Schwinn comes out once a year to maintain the bikes.
I’m leaving Space Center Houston. I’m going to make one stop before dinner.

This is my favorite Texas BBQ chain.
Moist brisket, cream corn, potato salad, bread, and peach cobbler.
