Vista: 2nd Sea Day

Good morning from just off the coast of Cuba.

I got a good 7 hours of sleep after the kid next door quieted down. I woke up once at 7am. I think it was ship movement again. At 8:30 I knew I was pretty much up for good but decided to lay in bed a bit longer and not make any noise since the hallway and cabins around me were silent. I started moving around at 9:30. It seems all of the cabins around me are sleeping in–Probably because they were up until after 1am this morning.

I’m going to miss my virtual window and upgraded internet when I’m on Glory this summer. Hopefully they add it to all ships soon. The YouTube video I posted this morning was uploaded live. That can’t be done on the old internet. The only time I was able to do that was in Key West using my AT&T internet.

I haven’t used the TV for actual TV. I flipped through the channels once and nothing was on. I’m streaming TV when I want it and using the room TV as a virtual window only.

Miguel in the atrium is definitely the go to for a spicy Bloody Mary.

Miguel just did a magic trick for us. He had a lady count 10 cards out of a deck and hold them against her heart. He ran his fingers through the remaining deck and she had 13 cards. He did it again and she had 20. He had her count those into stacks of 3, 7, 10 and had me pick two stacks for her to pick up. I chose 3 and 7. He handed me 3 invisible cards and had me throw them in the deck. When she counted again the 10 stack was 13. It’s stuff you see on America’s got talent.

Steak n’ Eggs. Eggs scrambled. The eggs don’t look like they were scooped today.

The kid next door is going crazy again. I don’t mind it much during the day. I’m about to head out to the hairy chest contest.

Red Frog Rum Bar

I don’t know why they want to obstruct my view with bamboo on this ship.

This is supposed to be a Red’s Rum Treasure but it seems a bit off. I don’t remember cherries being in it before. It feels like a pineapple slice. It also rang up as $11.50. That seems like a price increase. Almost as much as an alchemy drink.

Atrium Bar

I decided to try the Red Frog Stout. It doesn’t have much head. I like more head.

In the atrium a guy tried to get cheers drinks for he and his wife with his wife not present but he had her card. He was denied.

Lunch

I decided to try a little BBQ on the lanai.

I found this in a drawer in my cabin. That could be dangerous. That’s not my pill.

Z C 0 2 (Promethazine Hydrochloride 25 mg)

Thrill Theater

I’m going to do the scary 17+ thrill theater show. When I was on Breeze they only offered them at night when I was doing something else.

The thrill theater is worth trying. I’ve heard the log ride one is good. I did the scary one. It ran 20 minutes. The show was half Frankenstein and half Friday the 13th. I liked the Frankenstein part better visually because it was just a better 3D. Movies that are modified for 3D like they did Friday the 13th just don’t look 3D to me. But the effects were probably better on Friday the 13th portion. Every time blood squirts you get sprayed with water. Every time someone gets stabbed you get poked in the back. The best effect on the Frankenstein portion is when you have a bunch of bats or bugs in the show these things come out from under the seat and rub your legs like bats or bugs.

Cabin

I think the neighbors may be keeping this kid locked up in the cabin all day. The parents were in the thrill theater with me. Kid is in the room. Shouldn’t the kid be in a camp or something? It’s old enough to talk.

Fitness Center

There’s a seat at the alchemy (2nd position) where every so often the AC drips on your head. I was in 3rd position yesterday and the girl next to me was complaining about it. I caught it today and moved over to first position once it was available.

Here’s a look at what the little people are eating in the MDR tonight. I would’ve ordered the short ribs if I were eating there tonight.

Comedy Club

After dinner I rushed to the comedy club for the early show. I got there just before the start and was able to get a seat. But it did fill up to standing room only. More proof that it’s smaller than other ships. I have never see the PG shows go to standing room only on Dream Class.

I found out why this seat was available.

I intended to stick around to see the backside that takes up two chairs but I forgot.

Main Lounge

After the comedy show I headed to the Alchemy Bar but it was full. You have to expect that to happen when you have 9 bar seats for 6,000 people.

I headed to the Main Lounge where Amor Cubano was in progress.

Looking at the schedule I see that the adult comedy show is at 8:30. I decide to start heading that way and see if I can get an alchemy drink on the way.

Approaching the Alchemy Bar I see two beautiful seats open at the end. I get about 5 feet away and a couple moves in and sits down. I decide to just head to the comedy club.

Comedy Club

We are 15 mins out and there are still some seats available. It will be full but you don’t have to get here that early. There were people lined up to get in here after that last show, but that’s on them. I left for 30 minutes and when I came back there was plenty of seating available. I actually can see the mic this time.

Alchemy Bar

After I comedy I start heading to the Alchemy Bar As I’m going up the steps from deck 4 to deck 5 I’m behind a couple. I begin having flashbacks from an hour ago. At the midway point they go left, I go right. I beat them to the top of the stairs and then off. I race to the Alchemy. As I turn the corner I see the same two seats open. And…

That was a mango drink from Milan.

As I look around I start to think I may be the only straight person sitting at this bar (not that there’s anything wrong with that.) I check the schedule.

I’ve been waiting a couple hours for this spot and I’m staying for another drink.

Comedy Club

I head to the comedy club for the last comedy show of the night. It’s five minutes until showtime and there are still a lot of seats available. I guess there are people at the late Amor Cubano show but I’m surprised it’s this easy to get a seat in here now.

That was interesting. This inebriated woman sat front row center and insisted on being the center of attention. She even got on stage (uninvited) a couple of times.

This is the third third straight year I’ve cruised out of Galveston right around this time. When you do that you start to notice people who cruise out of the same port the same week every year. I think she’s done this before. I want to say it was on Freedom two years ago. She got roasted big time tonight by Manny Oliveira.
