Venezia Transatlantic: Ponta Delgada
Good morning. We are still making our way to Ponta Delgada. I’m going on a tour #7 with Azoean Tours. I’m going to see a volcano, a waterfall and much more.
Believe it or not I’ve actually been there before. When I was 19 I was on a chartered military flight. It was one of those deals where we didn’t know where we were stopping until we got there. On one of our refueling stops it looked like we were going to land in the ocean. Once we were on the ground and asked where we were we were told “The Azores.” Oh okay. What’s The Azores?
If you would’ve told me I’d be back a couple decades later as a tourist I never would’ve believed you.
Here is a look at today’s Fun Times.
There is only one person is doing Pilates today–The instructor I think.
There is no line for coffee this morning. It’s just a few crew members waiting on theirs.
I got a mocha.
After that I headed down to the atrium for a screwdriver. The ship feels pretty empty right now.
I started making my way towards the dining room in anticipation of breakfast. The Hero’s bar has rugby on. The only sports I’ve seen in here are rugby and tennis.
Church is happening in the Limelight Lounge.
There aren’t too many people waiting for breakfast.
Pancakes.
Broken egg sandwich.
We are approaching Ponta Delgada.
It’s strange having the walking track here. This has to be the longest track carnival has.
Imagine being in these loungers with all the walkers and joggers constantly coming through. I guess they mostly walk and jog in the morning when these chairs are empty. But it could be a bit awkward for the mid-day joggers.
The coffee line picked up. I think I’ll hit another spot for an Americano.
I grabbed one at the Gondola lounge bar on deck 5.
Trivia is very popular here.
We are pulling into Ponta Delgada.
The windows on deck 11 open wider than the ones on deck 10 but they have bars to keep anything big from going out them.
I grabbed a water to take ashore and I’m checking out the action from my balcony.
It looks like this is a big public swimming area.
For full coverage of my tour please check out: Ponta Delgada: Azorean Tours.
I’m going to skip ahead to when I got back from the tour.
My room was cleaned while I was ashore.
That swimming area that was full this morning is empty now.
I haven’t had anything to eat since I left the ship other than the volcano corn. I’m going to grab a pizza burger.
Then I headed down to the atrium bar for a screwdriver.
The entertainment tonight is Family Feud.
Hosted by cruise director MarQ.
I grabbed another screwdriver.
We have the duo in the atrium.
The TVs at Hero’s Bar are out again.
I stopped by the bar for another screwdriver.
Karaoke instead of comedy tonight. I really wish they’d have comedy in the main lounge on the night the dancers are off instead of having all of the good entertainment off on the same night.

I requested a table for dinner. This is what’s on the menu.
Italian wedding soup.
Pineapple cucumber salad.
Braciola di maiale alla grilia.
Torta di pere, canella Inglese
Late night family feud
I’m off to bed. Tomorrow begins a long stretch of sea days.
