Venezia Transatlantic: New York City Day 2
I’m flying out tomorrow so I needed to straighten out my packing. I took care of that before heading out this morning. My hotel has a free breakfast but I bypassed it and just grabbed a coffee to go.
I had the Liberty Bagels by Central Park last year and they were great so I’m stopping by their Wall Street location today. This is basically across the street from the bull which is practically across the street from Battery Park where the Statue of Liberty tours are located.
I want a good breakfast because it’s very possible I don’t have time to stop for lunch today.
They have hot and cold bagel options. I decided to order one of each. Hot bagels you pick up in the back. Cold bagels you pick up in the front.
After I grabbed my orders I found a bench with a view of the bull for entertainment.
I’m going to eat the hot bagel first while it’s still hot. The cold one I may save for later.
I’m going to save the cold bagel for lunch but we’ll take a look at it now.
We have reached Castle Clinton where the Statue of Liberty tours meet. For full coverage of that please check out Liberty Island and Statue of Liberty Crown tour. I’m going skip ahead to after the tours.
I just got off of the boat from the Statue of Liberty. I’m back outside Castle Clinton now. It’s 12:35 and I have a ticket for the 2pm performance of Hamilton. I’m going to try to get back to the hotel shower, change, then take the subway to the show.
Liberty puts a lot more cream cheese on the bagel than the Hudson Bagels I went to yesterday.
And we’re back at the hotel.
I had time to shower and change clothes. I’m going to eat the other half of my bagel on the subway.
I stepped outside and it’s raining. It didn’t last long though.
I got off at Times Square/42nd Street.
I have to go on foot from 42nd Street to 46th Street. But it’s Times Square so it’s an entertaining walk.
Just in case you haven’t been warned already. Those characters want you to take pictures with them, then they want you to pay them.
We made it to the Richard Rodgers theater. For full coverage of my time at the show, check out Hamilton. I’m going to skip ahead to after the show.
Before the show this hotel across the street caught my eye. I didn’t know where it was but when I saw it, I knew what it was. I stopped by after the show.
I am heading back to the hotel to drop off my Hamilton Cup and Playbill. I’ll also change into some more casual clothes for my next activity.
This is the 42nd Street/Times Square subway station.
I got off at Wall Street and headed back to the hotel.
The next activity is to walk the Brooklyn Bridge and watch the sunset from DUMBO (Down Under Manhattan Bridge Overpass). For full coverage of that please check out Brooklyn Bridge and Dumbo. I’m going to skip ahead to after sunset.
I’m hungry so I’m stopping by a food court called the Time Out Market. I was aware of this place because of the Clinton Street Baking Company location you can see inside. This is an alternate location for the place I had the blueberry pancakes at last year. They are not open this late.
I found a spot where I could keep an eye on the Mets-Yankees game.
This beer is called The Crisp. It’s from Six Point brewery here in Brooklyn.
I looked at everything that’s open right now but I can’t get over Jacob’s Pickles. I had them at the Mets game last year. And they’re looking the best to me.
I’m trying the Nashville Hot sandwich this time with mac n cheese.
After dinner I headed upstairs to The Rooftop Bar.
They have a nice spot for selfies out on the patio.
I had a couple Brooklyn Lagers.
It was a bit of a hike to the subway station. I was following a group of locals who knew where they were going.
This is one of those steep subway escalators.
I made it back to the hotel and checked in for my flight tomorrow. Good night.
