Venezia Transatlantic: Day 8

on
August 28, 2023

Good morning! Today is the first of four consecutive sea days as we make our way across the Atlantic Ocean to Halifax, Canada.

We are easing back into the proper time zone by going back one hour each morning. I think I’m going to enjoy getting an extra hour each night. I got 8 hours of sleep and was still up at 6am.

Here is a look at today’s Fun Times.

On these sea days I’ll try to give you a tour of the ship. This is a place I don’t frequent, Cloud 9 Spa.

This is the fitness center.

There are quite a few people in here so I’m just trying to get what I can without anyone thinking I’m weird.

In the men’s locker room area, there is the shower.

Restroom is by the shower.

There’s a hot tub in there. I’m going to be very careful because someone is in it.

There’s a nice view from the sauna.

Here you can get a better view of that hot tub.

I’m going to try to get a peek in a massage room.

Nice view from in here as well.

They call this the relaxation lounge.

The weather took a turn for the worse while I was in the gym. I need walk through the gym every morning that way I can say things like “I was I the gym earlier and when I got out it was raining.”

I think we’ve officially evolved to one coffee line.

The Pilates moved into the coffee shop. If only we had a ship with a roof on it.

I got a mocha.

Let’s take a look at the arcade. You can enter from the deck 11 mid elevator lobby or deck 12 by the mini golf.

The limelight lounge where most of the comedy happens on this ship.

We’ve got some new comedians coming on.

Past the limelight walking forward is the art area.

Then the Hero’s Lounge which is basically the sports bar.

This would be Carnival Kitchen on Panorama. Here it’s a non-smoking Casino.

This is the hallway from the non-smoking casino to the regular casino.

Let’s take a look at the main casino.

They have free breakfast drinks and pastries setup here.

That would be the cashier but it’s closed right now. They do have machines to the right.

This is the Carnival Store. I was disappointed they didn’t have Venezia Inaugural Season T-Shirts.

This kind of looks like a chalk outline of a guy with really short arms and a grinch head.

This is where you can do your fancy photo shoots.

The theater is closed. I’ll have to get that later.

An Americano and a screwdriver.

The breakfast crowd isn’t too bad. But it is pretty early on a sea day.

Eggs benedict with a side of hash browns and bacon.

This is the crowd on the way out.

I caught the deck 4 dining room cracked open so I slipped in.

I don’t think I want my Serenity pictures with a wet deck. I’ll wait until it dries off.

This bar is definitely supposed to be open but it’s not.

I scared the stuff out of a lady on my hall. She peeked her head out the door and looked to her left. I was coming sown the hallway from her right. Just as she turned her head I was  passing her. She screamed. I laughed. Then she said “ you didn’t know you were that scary did you?”

They decided to close the roof now that it’s not raining anymore.

I like this bar location on deck 11. I wish it had bar stools though.

I got a spicy bloody mary from Jose.

I ended up taking it to the balcony since there isn’t anything happening on lido deck.

I was on my way down to the atrium bar for another drink when I heard MarQ’s voice coming out of the main lounge. It was the end of a game called “What’s Age Got To Do With It?”

I just saw the bartender go to the back so I went up to the plaza bar for my drink.

Then I went down to a cooking demo in the limelight lounge.

They passed out samples of the items they made.

A slew of chefs were involved.

They gave us the recipes.

After the cooking demo I grabbed a screwdriver to take to lunch.

For lunch today we have one of the special menus you don’t get on regular week long cruises.

This is Samosa.

Fish Tikka.

Lamb Biryani.

Semiya Piyasam Kheer.

I will be happy when we get closer to a regular time zone. I kind of envisioned myself watching baseball games on the balcony during these sea days. We aren’t there yet.

I headed to Amari shortly after opening time and it was basically empty. It would fill up fast though.

The less than perfect storm. It really depends on which ship you are on. Some use the lighter and some will not. Here they will not.

This is an interesting one on the Amari menu. The Pistachio martini.

This is an off menu one I requested. A banana martini.

Another off menu one I requested. Coconut strawberry martini.

We’ll finish it out with a deal closer.

Entertainment in the Gondola lounge.

I was interested in grabbing a Moretti which almost every bar has on tap here.

Carnivale Lounge was full so I headed downstairs to Hero’s bar. It’s empty. It’s all tennis all the time and my least favorite bartender is working it.

I decided to head to the atrium where I like the staff more.

Unfortunately this is one of the few bars that doesn’t have Moretti. They have Peroni on tap instead so I got that.

This Hazy IPA guy next to me makes a comment like “I wish I could be this happy when I’m not drinking.” I’m not a psychologist. Time to move on.

So I head up to Rococo where they have do have Moretti.

The steel drum is happening up here.

After that I stopped by the room. I’ve been gone for four hours. The steward has been here.

Heading out for drinks before dinner. Amari is full.

Frizzante is full.

I decide to pull a stool into no man’s land at frizzante.

Finally I’m able to move to the main bar

I stepped down to the Hero’s Bar. They have a better bartender working now. He sees me and says “Grey Goose and OJ?” I guess I have only had the screwdrivers with him. I’m drinking Moretti now.

He was good when talking about sports. He said the NBA was on at 2am. And pulled out the schedule and showed it to me. The other bartender that works here isn’t so pleasant.

I took that Moretti to comedy. They won’t serve you draft beer in here.

I wanted to start my dinner table clock while I was in there so halfway through the show I pull out my phone. It slips and falls to the ground. I pick it up and everyone is looking at me. I look around. “Who did that?” A baby starts crying. Perfect.

Will Marfori.

The timing was perfect for my dinner table.

Super loaded nachos.

Queso fundido.

Taco de carnitas.

Pork lomito.

Crema Catalina.

After dinner I headed back to the comedy club. This is Caroline Picard.

Then I headed to the main lounge for “Fantastic Patrick.” This will do it.

This guy next to me sees me taking a picture of the drink. He asks “Is that how you keep track of how many you have?” I say no I don’t need to do that and point at the 15 on my receipt. He looks at his receipt and asks the bartender why he doesn’t have a number. She says you’ve only had 5.

Here is a little bit of the Fantastic Patrick act.

A solo guitarist is playing in the atrium.

This is a few rooms down from me. I hope I see one of the parents so I can say “you suck at coloring.”

What are the odds of that? 5 minutes later I’m heading down to quest. The mother comes out into the hallway and stands right next to the picture so I can walk by. I stop look at it and say “your aren’t very good at coloring.” She laughs.

The Quest crowd.

Cruise Director MarQ is hosting Quest.

After Quest I headed to bed. Tomorrow is another sea day.
