Venezia Transatlantic: Day 15
Good morning. Today is a sea day and the last day of the cruise. I need to get my packing done. I have an early dinner booked tonight. I want to try to get to sleep earlier than usual. I don’t want to miss our early morning arrival in New York.
This is the sunrise view from my balcony.
A few minutes later there was a fog horn. It’s been non-stop ever since then.
We are continuing to take this coffee line out of the coffee shop and into the Zumba area.
I grabbed a mocha and found a spot upstairs.
Being the last day of the cruise we have the towel animal takeover on lido deck. A lot of ships do this on the last port day because those loungers aren’t as likely to be used. Occasionally I see it on the last sea day.
I headed down to the atrium for a screwdriver and an Americano.
Valentina has figured out my pattern.
I had another screwdriver then a bloody mary to take to the morning show.
On day 15 I found a legroom sweet spot.
You know what’s coming.
A couple playlist cast members made an appearance.
It’s brunch time so I grabbed another bloody mary. Kanda in the atrium knows me as well. She said spicy bloody mary at the same time I did.
I don’t see her as much because she comes on after my coffee/screwdriver time. But she’s great too.
Flaming tomato soup.
Eggs benedict with bacon and breakfast potatoes.
I met two really nice ladies from New York at brunch. Both have been on Carnival and Royal. Both have been to Alaska. One had been on Virgin and Windstar. So we had some good conversation about those things, ship shows, and Broadway shows.
The Captain made his noon announcement. There was a collective groan when he said 4-4:30am for the Statue of Liberty tomorrow. That’s exactly why I have the 6pm dinner. I’m going hard with the day drinking today and then it’s all about getting ready for New York City tonight.
White Russian.
And another.
Time to switch to the spicy bloody mary.
Zora has been making these drinks. As I mentioned she is an alchemist and very well may rotate into Amari one of these cruises.
Today is my birthday and Zora says I look good for 14.
I’m making the last one count with a Fun Ship.
Karaoke is starting up. It’s a good time to get out of here anyway.
I stopped by the room to get on the packing. Fortunately my laundry has arrived.
I got ready for dinner and headed down to Il Viaggio.
Being 15 drinks in I was not bashful about checking out what the other tables were having.
I made friends and they gave me pizza. It’s amazing. Maybe the best pizza I’ve had. You may remember Emeril talking about this pizza early in the cruise. The crust is made from pressed chicken.
I told the waiter what I had eaten on my prior visits and went with his recommendations this time.
I insisted on the Parmesan bread.
This was the shrimp appetizer. They are really big shrimp. When I finished she said “are you ready for the main course?” I had forgotten that was the appetizer. Keeping in mind I had the pizza. Thankfully I drank through lunch.
For the main course I went with the Pappadelle Al Cinghiale. This is another great pasta. I think I still prefer the Genovese. But this would be my second choice of the main courses I’ve tried. Drop it to third if we’re counting the pizza.
For dessert I of course ordered the mile high. Then once I got full I changed to the tiramisu, which wouldn’t melt. I knew I was going to gift it to a bartender. I decided to offer it up to the ladies who take care of me every morning first. Down in the atrium. Valentina is always #1 down there she makes me coffee and multiple screwdrivers every morning. Sometimes bloody Mary’s. She didn’t want it so I offered it to Kanda who made many of my bloody Mary’s and screwdrivers over the past two weeks. She was happy to have it.
Oh I did take a picture of that before i gave it away.
This is what they had in the main dining room.
I need to pack. I think instead of paying the ridiculous price for street water in New York, I’m just going to go around and give some nice tips for waters from my favorite bartenders to take with me.
The atrium was packed.
I kept my monkey in the safe this week due to my desire for anonymity and the number of people who would’ve recognized it on this cruise.
I did save all of my fun times from this cruise.
It’s a full house for late night comedy.
Comedy host Buzz.
Merl Hobbs.
Caroline Picard.
I’m off to bed. I have my alarm set for 4am to catch the Statue of Liberty.
