Venezia Transatlantic: Day 11

on
September 8, 2023

Good morning! It’s 57 degrees outside as we make our way across the Atlantic Ocean to Halifax. Today is World Ocean Day and  the day we are expected to cross over the resting place of the Titanic. We are expecting an announcement on that from the captain around noon today.

Here is a look at todays’ Fun Times.

I guess the coffee people have gotten tired of the Tae Bo people invading their space. Now we’re taking the coffee line into their area.

Even the pope drinks coffee.

I went with a mocha.

Look how clear it is right now.

I sat down with my coffee. You can still see the water out that window.

And all of the sudden we hit fog.

The top is closed which means it won’t rain today.

I’m guessing this is to celebrate world ocean day.

I went back over to the coffee shop for an Americano.

The coffee people had problems getting drinks in the right order. The first time I came through they made a double shot latte and couldn’t find who it belonged to so they gave it for free to the lady two spots in front of me. It turns out that was for the guy two spots behind. He was cool about it.

But when I went back for an Americano I noticed mine had a A+ shot written on it. I reported the discrepancy and it turns out that was supposed to go to the lady behind me. She was not happy at all that the coffee was handed to me, then taken back and handed to her.

This is how it’s looking from the front of the ship now.

It’s clearing up from my balcony.

Valentina has my schedule down.

I finished that one and got another to take to brunch.

The pope also eats brunch.

I’m in line behind these people up here. The hostess starts talking to them. They’re asking questions like if the rest of their family is at the table already and whatnot. While this is going on a swarm of 20 people walk around us. When the hostess is done I show her my number. She tells me get in line behind all of the people that just walked up.

Chicken and waffle.

Eggs, bacon, and breakfast potatoes.

I don’t think chicken is supposed to be red on the inside. This is why you always have to order the second plate.

I skipped the chicken and just ate my eggs, bacon, and potatoes. Then I returned to the atrium for a bloody mary or two.

I moved up to deck 11. We have increased our horn blowing significantly with the fog.

I swear the people around here. I took about 20 steps away from my table just to take this picture. I was gone no more than 30 seconds and a lady was moving my drink to another table so she could take mine.

I need to carry a towel or something. Somehow people get reserved seats all day by putting a towel on a chair but I can’t step away to take a picture, or get a drink, or use the bathroom.

This is a look at the upcoming forecast.

The decorations are coming along nicely. It turns out these are for an Italian Festival tonight.

They’re calling this a fishing competition.

I had to go to the bar for a drink. There aren’t any servers. I don’t think there are any lido servers on this cruise.

I just pulled everything out of my pockets and left it all on the table. I think my phone was the clincher. I left my phone otherwise I would’ve lost my table in 30 seconds.

Here is one from the front of the ship.

And the big announcement of the day.

And this is about as close as we can get to the Titanic.

How did it take me 11 days to get to the Carnavale for a drink? I love the view. I know karaoke has scared me away at night. And it’s not open during my morning drinks.

These ladies are both alchemists. You may remember Andrea (on the right) from my Glory “Sailabration” cruise last year. She remembers my drink requests.

That’s a good looking drink next to me.

I read a wild rumor here that Seafood Shack was serving Chinese food at lunch so I checked it out.

It is quite a line.

This is what they had at La Strada today.

After lunch it was time for ice carving.

Tango.

Cash.

I went to the room to get a laundry bag ready and headed down to 3:30pm comedy.

It’s beyond ridiculous that they don’t have this in the theater if it’s this popular.  They don’t have anything going on in the theater until Deal or No Deal at 7pm.

Comedy host Buzz.

Caroline Picard.

All tennis. All the time.

After comedy they had a magic show. I had to leave and get back in line. The line went all the way to the atrium. But I was able to get a seat.

It is standing room only now.

Michael Kent.

I had gotten that bag of laundry ready before I went to the two shows. I come back and it’s still there. All day the steward camps outside my room waiting for me to take my sign off and when I finally do, he’s nowhere to be found for hours.

It works out because I found another shirt that needed to be washed and I was like “I wonder if I can squeeze that shirt into that bag.” Sure can. I just needed another piece of duct tape.

All the bars on promenade are full. I ended up pulling up a chair to no man’s land at Frizzante, but a regular seat opened up and I slid down.

This is an espresso martini.

White Russian.

Moretti.

For the first time in a couple days my phone doesn’t think I’m in Cadiz.

Moretti.

I killed the Moretti.

They have another in stock.

Here is tonight’s dinner menu.

BLT Salad

I ate a shrimp before taking this picture.

Tenera Costola Arrostita which I’m guessing translates to prime rib, a baked potato and broccoli.

Baba Napoletano.

This guy at the table next to me has to have his legs crossed for some reason and the bottom of his shoe..which touches bathroom floors and stuff is too close to my arm, my table, and my food for me.

I quickly finished and  headed to the comedy club.

Comedy host Buzz.

Will Marfori.

Heading to Deal or No Deal a solo singer is in the atrium.

This is the evening view from my balcony.

We are finally in a time zone that allows me to stream the Mets at a decent hour.

Since that Mets game kept me up until after midnight I got the munchies and went on my first pizza run off the cruise. I forgot my phone so I don’t have pictures but they were buffing the pool deck and mopping the buffet. I guess the buffet doesn’t need to be buffed because it is already buff…et?

I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is yet another sea day.
