Venezia Transatlantic: Day 10
Good morning. We are still working our way across the Atlantic. I believe we are going to pass the location of the Titanic tomorrow.
This is the morning view from my balcony.
Here is a look at today’s Fun Times.
Let’s do deck 5 front to back.
Alright I need coffee.
I got a fancy design on my mocha today.
I feel like I need to try to snag a home run ball here.
I don’t know if I’ve seen that many people out before 8am marking their serenity territory before. I tried to take pictures around them, but it was tough.
Now let’s do the exterior of deck 5 starboard side front to back.
This area is smoking. There’s a non-smoking area on the other side of the ship with two loungers in each of the grassy things and they are all reserved by 8am.
The blank section they change out every day. I think they just have two menus they alternate.
Now port side back to front
You don’t see that very often.
These are where the loungers are that are all reserved.
Time for a drink or two.
I’m going to take this screwdriver with me to breakfast.
When nothing is on in the Hero’s Lounge these channels always show you what is on next. It’s never exciting. On Panorama they’d leave ESPN and Espn2 on the TVs and I could come down here and watch Sports Center in the morning. It was nice.
It’s kind of surprising that they end the comedy so early on this ship. And we haven’t had those main lounge late night showcases. 9:45 was the last show last night and the same goes for tonight.
Smoked salmon, corned beef hash, and bacon
Not too big of a crowd as I was walking out.
I headed back to the atrium for another screwdriver.
Then a bloody mary.
I was in the elevator. This kid is in there with head band, wrist bands, the whole getup. He asks “Are you going to walk a mile with MarQ?”
No I’m going to sit on the balcony with a bloody mary.
At one of the bars this morning there was talk about a fire alarm in the theater during one of the concerts last night. And a theater evacuation out by the lifeboats and talk of titanic and whatnot. Which by the way, we should be on or close to that path.
They are having a Q&A with ship officers down in the theater.
There’s a discrepancy on the guest count. Guest services told me 4400. Here they said 3800 guests and 1389 crew.
It was asked if any crew came from Costa. Only two. One being the executive chef who was on this ship prior to the shutdown.
It was asked how many pizzas and burgers we will go through. They say the numbers are pretty equal and they’re expecting 7-8 thousand of each on this cruise.
During Q&A they had ship building competition on lido. I was able to get a banana daiquiri and make it in time for judgement.
It is lightly raining and the top is down. We only put the top up after it stops raining for some reason.
We are down to final 3. This is 3rd place. I’m pretty sure the guy is just holding a juice box.
This one won second place.
It shouldn’t have been as close as it was. 1st place.
2nd place in action.
These seats are plentiful in the rain.
Lyle Lyle crocodile
They definitely have some different pepperoni.
I remember people talking about the Celebration pepperoni being weird the first half of that cruise last year because they were still using pepperoni from Europe.
I grabbed a beer at the plaza bar and slipped into the Carnivale to wait in my lunch table.
Who has tables and who doesn’t? What do you want to bet most of them don’t?
Chips & Salsa
Quesadilla
Steak Tacos
Churros
Carmel Flan
That first table on the right was my breakfast table this morning.
I scoped out the La Strada menu since this section was missing when we walked by earlier. The food looks good.
Cha-Cha dance lessons.
Since we had Mexican food, I’m stuck on Corona today.
I took one to the balcony.
The water started to get a little rough during lunch.
3:30pm PG comedy.
Merl Hobbs
I went to this astronomy lecture. It should be called astrology. That’s what it is. The lecturer sounds like she was chewing gum and stuck it to the roof of her mouth during the lecture. She reminds me of that psychic from Pee Wees big adventure. One by one everyone had to go to the bathroom. And they all forgot to come back. She halfway cleared the place out.
I left for an early dinner.
This is my first time to get a table in the 4th floor dining room. I’ve always been on the 3rd floor.
The windows are grayed out up here so no view. I believe that’s a crew walkway. There is no guest access outside on deck 4.
Spring rolls
I guess it’s tough to tell but there are actually four shrimp in there.
Caesar salad
Chicken from the devil
Pineapple upside down cake
My steward has been by the room.
It’s getting foggy outside.
Epic rock is happening in the main lounge.
I just saw fleet cruise director Mike Pack. He has been on the ship the entire cruise but I don’t think I’ve seen him since the first day.
Now that’s an outfit. And it’s casual night
I’m going back to screwdrivers.
We have a trio of violins in the atrium.
Then I headed to the limelight lounge in time for comedy.
That drink took forever.
I thought she went back to Barcelona for an orange.
Comedy host Buzz
Arvin Mitchell
I hate that they’re calling the 8:45 show ‘late night comedy.’ Some ships are still doing PG shows at that time.
The late night comedy graphic started with the shows on around 11pm or midnight in the main theater on Vista. After the adult shows were over. Now they’re calling 8:45 late night comedy. The candy store stays open later than the comedy club.
I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is yet another sea day. Good night!
