The Mascot Saloon in Skagway
The Mascot is an old saloon in Skagway that has been turned into a museum. You can tour the museum free of charge.
The Mascot is estimated to have been built in early 1898. It was originally named The Mascotte Saloon. After closing in 1899, it was purchased by the owner of Skagway City Brewery, remodeled, and reopened as The Mascot Saloon.
These bottles were found in the floorboards.
The owner of the Mascot was also a restaurant owner who offered free lunches of clam chowder, spare ribs, or enchiladas to his saloon guests.
In the back is the casino.
This was an early version of a slot machine used at the Mascot.
I definitely recommend stopping by the Mascot while you’re in Skagway. It’s one of several free museums in town.
