Super Bowl Magic: Debarkation

on
May 15, 2023

Good morning! Today is debarkation day. The door slamming started at 5:30 this morning. I’ve been up since then.

I never did book an airport transfer. My goal is to try to be the last person off of the ship today. Then go eat and drink at one of the nearby restaurants. In the afternoon when the Uber/Lyft prices go down, I will order a ride to the airport.

Guess what? That’s a shared table.

I got them to switch me to a private table.

The #1 survey item is definitely the shared tables. It’s an option in the hub app. I never select it. They always assign me a shared table for breakfast and brunch. It was the same deal on Magic in September as well.

At 7:05 they called muster stations A4 and A5 self assist. That is guests with those muster stations who are carrying off all of their luggage. At 7:15 they called B3, followed by B4 and C4 at 7:25.

There’s no line for coffee at the Java Blue.

I’m heading back to the room to get cleared out.

Here are the TV channels in the room.

The newer ships have on-demand movies–many of which are free. These older ships have movie channels. This is the schedule for this week.

While I was in the dining room I must’ve missed the D muster stations. At 8:30 they called E3 and E4. They’ve now called all muster stations.

I got out of the room promptly at 8:35. I think they were sending someone to kick me out of my room. On my way down the hallway I passed a lady with a clipboard. After she passed me she turned around. I’m guessing my steward called and reported one person still in their room in his section and they were coming for me.

I’ve got time to squeeze in one more mocha before the coffee shop closes at 9.

These people in front of me are playlist cast members that are leaving. The new cast had their first show last night.

At 8:40 they called luggage tags 1-10. I can leave the ship at any time now.

At 9:05 they called luggage tags 11-20. Finally at 9:20 they called luggage tags 21-29. That is all stations and tags.

9:25 final call.

I don’t want to know what that is.

There are 97 guests still on board. Rico says he really enjoyed having us on board but they need to prepare for the next cruise. This is the last last last call.

Rico putting work in.

I just want to be dead last.

I’m behind the guy pushing the wheel chair and carrying the crutches. I think I did it.

I believe myself to be the last guest off of the ship at 9:40.

I’m checking behind me. There’s nobody in sight.

My suitcase was easy to find.

Here are your carnival transfer signs for anyone doing that.

I was out of the port at 9:50.

Change of plans. There is nothing here. It’s going to cost me $30 just to get over where the restaurants are. Forget that. I’m only paying transportation once today. I’m going straight to the airport.

These are the people I used the last time I was here which was right after the restart in August 2021 on Carnival Mardi Gras. It might be a bit of a wait but you can buy a transfer right here for not much more than Carnival.

It’s $40. They said it could be a 30 minute wait.

It was a 25 minute wait. There are just four of us going in a van.

It took right around 40 minutes to make it to the airport. Next time we’ll cover my airport adventure.
