Summer Jubilee: Day 2
Good morning! We had a rough start last night but it ended good. I went to bed about 12:30. Almost immediately there was a door slam! Just when I’m about to fall asleep, another door slam.
I finally get to sleep and my cabin phone rings. It’s 1am so this has to be an emergency. I answer “hello?” Nothing. “Hello?” On the other end I hear someone say “who?” I hang up and go back to sleep.
After that I slept 7 straight hours so that was good. The first door slam was at 8:35am.
The John is going to get used and abused this cruise.
Here is today’s Fun Times
This is a 9:30 look at lido deck.
They are taking coffee orders at the bar today.
I got a mocha.
If this estimate is as accurate as the less than 10 minute dinner wait, this could be 2-3 hours. But they close brunch at noon these days so they’ll probably try to get me in before that.
There was a bit of a kerfuffle at the Marina bar and now it has trickled down to me. It used to be no problem to order an alcoholic drink and non-alcoholic drink at the same time on Cheers. Now they say the system is making you wait five minutes. I didn’t notice it on my first round because I forgot about the screwdriver and ordered it a few minutes later.
17 minutes have passed and we’re down to a 20-30 minute wait.
I thought I needed to check out the big window before they cover it up but they’ve already got a partial cover for the morning show which is in an hour. As soon as that ends they’ll fully cover it for bingo or something.
It was only a 30-minute wait for a table.
At least they don’t have tables right next to me but I had to put the headphones in because of the lady at the table in front of me. Her mouth never closed. She was eating and talking at the same time and I can’t handle it.
I ordered Flaming Tomato Soup but never got it. I did get Huevos Rancheros and Brunch Potatoes. They never refilled my water glass. Last week I was drinking three waters per meal in the dining room. I’d be here all day waiting on that. I also got used to them putting my napkin in my lap last week on Spirit. It took a couple days to get used to it. Now it’s taking a couple days to get unused to it.
I cannot tell you how crowded this area was 10:30pm-12:30 am. It’s the only food on the ship at that time and the only operable drink station on the ship at that time. It was tough just to walk through here because people shoving pizza in their faces were spilling out into the walkway.
This looks like a replay on SEC Network. They had golf and soccer in here yesterday.
I’ll definitely be trying to Big Bock and Coco Stout.
I ordered a bloody mary to take to the morning show.
The Restaurant Operations Manager is a guest on The Wave this morning.
They were talking about how good the beignets are at Emerils. Now they’re passing out half a dozen beignets.
We got four minutes of the full window before they closed more of it off.
This is a great seat because everyone stands in front of you.
Shopping show suckers
Some kind of a group dancing competition is happening in the Havana Bar.
Watermelon Crush at The Watering Hole.
I’m going to grab a quick bite before the Saints game.
An obvious design flaw.
I got the steak bowl I like with the wide noodles. You can get this at the JiJi lunch on vista class now.
This year Carnival has been blocking my sports streaming sites.
I’m using the “Saints Live” Facebook group stream as a workaround.
Coco stout
The best local beer options of any ship I’ve been on. It’s good to see them in here. Last time you had to go to the Serenity bar for the Revolver and Galveston ones.
Big Bock
Amber Ale Bier
I rank those Big Bock, Coco Stout, Amber Ale
Golf, soccer, and Little League World Series are on the TVs around here.
This is the screen they like in between activities and I don’t get it. Is it laziness? Does it cost money to move the screen out and give us a view? If not just push the button and maybe you have to push it again in an hour.
Halftime on the Serenity deck. Wouldn’t you just love to be in there?
Remember last time when receipts were flying all over the place?
The guy running that stream muted the volume at halftime and was talking. Then he fell asleep. The entire second half audio was him snoring.
I showered and changed into my evening wear. I’m taking my snoozing sign off so the steward can do her thing.
Seafood Shack menu
Street Eats
This is the Spiced Beef Bao from Steam Dream.
Now they have the screen ready for tonight’s entertainment hours early.
It’s elegant night. I had another version of this where the lady is looking at me crazy. You’re walking with a guy in a top hat and squirrel ears what do you expect?
Pande was trying to be slick yesterday but at least she can make a filthy martini.
A Pande drink. I know it has Malibu in it. It mostly tastes like fresh strawberries
The drink number doesn’t show up on the receipt anymore. This coconut martini from Pande is #14.
It should be a requirement that seating charts are at the entrance so people know where to go. It’s a regular occurrence that they walk me all around the dining room because they don’t know where the table is. They act like they were blindfolded and dropped into a random dining room.
How can you not know where the tables are? At least the general area. We walked all around the starboard side while the table is on the port side. It’s a regular occurrence on Carnival that they walk around like they’ve never been in the dining room before. At one point he asked “are you meeting someone?” I know darn well if I had said yes the next question would’ve been “do you see them anywhere?”
This is the avocado cucumber soup. It was good if you like avocado.
escargot
The food was good tonight.
My favorite Carnival dessert. Grand Marnier Souffle
I’m just trying to get noticed without getting in anyone’s way. Finally Pande got me.
I’m going to check out the later show. Right now I’m heading to comedy.
Jersey’s adult show
Raffy Taffy
Richie Holliday’s family friendly show.
Put my snoozing sign back out. It’s weird how those black covers popped off all the time on Horizon but not on other ships.
He had some audience participation.
Soul Bound
Solo guitarist
Hot white party
Naked and afraid is on TV. I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is another sea day.
