Subway Series
The last time I was in New York I was able to go to my first Mets home game. This time it worked out where I can catch the first game of the Subway Series: Yankees @ Mets. My hotel this time is in the Financial District so I’m heading to Wall Street Station going uptown.
I’m transferring to the 7 train which goes to Flushing, Queens.
Now we’re starting to see the fans.
And we made it to the stadium. For timing I got in the Wall Street Station at 5:15pm and it’s 6pm now.
That’s the Tom Seaver statue they added last year.
My second Mets home game. My second Scherzer start. I wish I had gotten to see deGrom last year. He’s a Ranger now. So is Scherzer for that matter but this game was before he was traded.
I’m right here in the last row on the aisle.
I had to go to the upper level for the food I wanted.
‘
Last year they had a stand here with all of the local beers. Now they just have Brooklyn Lager. Coney Island has it’s own stand downstairs.
Last year I had the chicken biscuit sandwich from Jacob’s Pickles. This year I want to try the popular steak sandwich from this place.
I got a Brooklyn Lager to wash it down with.
I went back for the loaded fries.
This is the concession area up here by the cheap seats.
After eating I returned to my seat in time for the start of the game.
I stopped by the Coney Island stand for one of their Mermaid Pilsner beers.
Jerry Seinfeld threw out the first pitch.
Last year I didn’t get to see a Mets home run. Scratch that one off of the list.
That section must coordinate.
Late in the game I decided to go for ice cream. I wanted one of these bowls since last year.
And we’re heading back. The Mets lost 7-6 so nobody is in a good mood.
I made it back to Wall Street Station.
Trinity Church.
And I made it back to the hotel at 11:30.
