Spirit: Princess Cays
Good morning! Today we’re in Princess Cays. This is a Princess owned port and of course Carnival Corp owns Princess so Carnival gets to use it. This is my first time here. It’s one of the reasons I booked this cruise. It looks like we’re going to have great weather so I’m excited about today!
I received this in my mailbox yesterday.
Here are today’s Fun Times.
ESPN had no service when I turned it on this morning but it slowly came in good.
We have the traditional towel animal takeover since this is the last port day.
I started with a Caribbean coffee which has rum and Tia Maria in it. It’s not the best, but it’s not horrible either.
I headed down to the primary coffee shop on deck 3 and ordered an Americano.
Now that I’ve seen my room have no ESPN signal, I think that’s what was going on in here the other morning.
I checked in for breakfast and grabbed a screwdriver from the casino bar.
My table was ready almost immediately.
One of my alchemy friends saw me and stopped to ask if i was still around for the disturbance last night. He went to the casino around 6. I went to eat around 7. I’m sure we’ll hear about it at the bar tonight.
I’m pretty sure these French toast are bigger than the ones I had on Monday but still not regular size.
The night club door is open so let’s take a look at it with the lights on. It’s different than every other Carnival nightclub I’ve been inside.
Spicy bloody mary
I am on the tender boat now. We’re about to head to Princess Cays.
I forgot my wallet and had to get off the water shuttle and come back. I made it on the same one though. I was the last person on.
When you get off of the boat in Princess Cays, you can go to the left or right over the bridge or straight back out of the port. Most people go to the left side. That’s where almost everything is at. After touring the entire area, I set up camp on the right side far down enough where I was alone.
While I was on the other side I saw Leyla from the Alchemy working the Banana Bar.
For a full tour of the port check out Princess Cays Cruise Port. I’m going to skip ahead.
I got free WiFi on something called Ocean Net. I didn’t know we had free WiFi over here.
And I just got infiltrated for the first time after an hour and a half.
My drink is empty. I think I’m going to run by the bathroom, look for that at George bar outside of the gate, then head back to the ship for lunch.
There are two life guards on this side of the beach. But they are down at the very first part where all the chairs are. There were none down where I was.
Just outside of the port gate we have some vendors.
Take a right then just before the bridge on the left is George’s.
I had another beer then decided to head back to the ship for lunch.
This is the entrance to the water shuttle.
The security is pretty tight for a private island.
Watch your head.
They’re doing balcony and window cleaning tomorrow. Of course that doesn’t impact me.
Soccer is on ESPN in the room.
What’re you looking at?
They switch out cakes every day but I’ve noticed they have had German chocolate every day. This is chocolate vanilla marble and black forest.
I returned to the room to shower, change and put out a bag of laundry for the steward.
Now we have baseball on in the room.
I like to take pictures off the back of the ship on lido deck. Since that is Serenity on this ship, the entire area is lined with full clamshells right now.
I found an empty one to get this picture in front of but as I approached it the lady in the next one was giving me a look.
From here you can see all of those clamshells I was talking about.
When the Alchemy opened I headed down and ordered a dirty martini.
Sunset from the Alchemy.
I got these from my Alchemy friends.
Leyla is back from the banana bar.
I asked if the walking glass is her way of telling me I need to leave. Apparently I’ve used up all of the martini glasses. They need to wash some.
One of the ladies at the bar forgot her wedding ring and was telling Leyla she feels naked without it. Leyla says she’s naked all the time which causes the entire bar to erupt in laughter.
Apparently the fight last night happened in front of the bathroom which is just around the corner from Alchemy and before the atrium. Leyla says what she knows about it is the guy is living with them now.
Martini glasses have been washed.
I see on my account they gave me $20 off my shark excursion in Freeport where the bus almost left me. I wasn’t asking for anything. I was just letting them know so they could fix it. But on my account they refunded $79.99 which was the excursion cost. Then they charged me $59.99.
I got a report on dinner and 80’s pop to the max. Supposedly dinner was just okay. I’m not in love with the menu myself.
But on 80’s Pop to the Max they said they are just sitting on barstools singing the songs.
I don’t know if I mentioned it but this came up in the Q&A. They said when seas are too rough for their sets they will just do a concert version. I’ve never seen this happen on a ship before. It’s odd that the one time I hear it talked about in a Q&A it actually happens on that cruise. It makes me wonder if this was a planned easy week for their last week on the ship.
80’s night sights from the Alchemy.
No wait for dinner at this time. That’s pretty common when you eat this late.
Mixed greens
Baked potato and cheddar soup. This boat is really rocking and I’m not talking about music.
Fried shrimp
Lasagna
Showtime. She’s a million times better than the brunch guy.
Chocolate melting cake
It’s just like regular chocolate cake actually.
The exterior of deck 3 forward is open.
This is what the “concert version” of 80’s Pop to the Max looks like.
I never get by here because there’s nothing else up here. That’s how desperate things are tonight. The good band from the Red Frog Pub is off. The comedians are off. The dancers are off. The sets are off.
I stopped in the Red Frog Rum Bar for a white chocolate stout.
This will probably be my last. I’m heading to the Rock N Glow party then bed.
Yeah!
Soccer is on ESPN now. I’m off to bed. Good night!
