Spirit: Nassau

on
July 15, 2024

Good morning from Nassau! We are docked next to Spirit’s, sister ship Carnival Legend and it looks like a great day.  My plan for today is to hit John Watling’s Distillery for my favorite Pina Coladas and maybe stop by Junkanoo Beach.

Here are today’s Fun Times.

This was left in my mailbox regarding tomorrow’s visit to Princess Cay.

There was no line for coffee but there was also no coffee guy. He went to grab milk so it was about a 10 minute wait.

My table is ready and it’s the end of breakfast so I didn’t have time to pick up a screwdriver.

Avocado toast and a side of bacon and hash browns.

Pancakes

My first order of business after breakfast is to stop by guest services and change my folio number. I noticed on my account someone had a couple of my unused cheers drinks in the casino last night.

One of the Disney ships is on the other side of us.

Having that open deck right below me isn’t all I thought it would be. It’s always roped off. We can’t blame it on the weather anymore.

While I was at Guest Services I stopped by the Adventures Desk to let them know about my excursion issue yesterday where they almost left me behind. They’re going to talk to the tour operator.

I need to make sure I spend this today. I don’t know when I’m going to be back. If I had to guess it would be 2027 or later.

That new port building was in the early stages of construction the last time I was here.

I heard there are seven ships in port today.

This is all new.

At the end of the port area is this amphitheater.

You can exit by the straw market.

There were a few rain drops so I started looking for a place to take cover. Senor Frogs is beyond packed.

I’m going to check this bar out.

It never started raining so I continued to John Watling’s.

They have a little restaurant outside now and they will deliver food inside.

These are my favorite pina coladas. They used to be included in the 2/$20 special, but not anymore. They’re $12/each. Not bad. Cocktails at that Kabuki Tuki bar were $16.50.

I still got two.

Though I’ve been here a few times I haven’t checked out the back area since I took the tour in 2018.

I continued on to Junkanoo Beach.

I was prepared to get in the water today but the wind and lack of people in the water had me decide not to. I think it was too cold.

I am heading back to the ship.

I’m back at the port. There actually are more exits than the one I went out. There’s one right when you get off the pier and one by the gelato shop.

They’re watching some hockey here.

Back on the ship I’m going to check out chopsticks again.

I’m waiting for them to put out the fresh beef n broccoli. That tray has been used and abused.

They’re still on the old beef n broccoli. I got soup.

There we go.

Something I’ve noticed in the buffet is on most ships there would be tables along the windows. Here they have them all removed with just chairs there.

There was definitely a kid up in the splash area that wasn’t of age. Mom was holding its hands and just getting it to stomp around and get the feet wet. Probably not hurting anything but I don’t make the rules.

Carnival’s splash area isn’t rated for swim diapers. Security was watching.

I ran into my Alchemy friends. They told me it was opening 30 minutes early today so I headed down.

Very dirty martinis.

Disney Dream is pulling out.

Now we are on the move.

It looks like I’ll catch the Love and Marriage show tonight. That and Deal or No Deal are the main entertainment.

I’ll try to be done with dinner by 8:30 and it’ll be

8:30 comedy

9:30 L&M

10:30 comedy

11:15 comedy

This was the refund of Bimini port fees.

Here’s the difference in martinis. Leyla makes the best. She muddles olives.

When she’s on break like now, you’ll  notice the ones from Jefferson (Elvin) look almost like straight liquor because it basically is.

But at least he’s hooking me up with the olives. Leyla makes so many of these that she’s cut back on olives over the course of the cruise.  she has gone down from 3 to 2 to 1.

I’m waiting on a dinner table so I asked for this in a rocks glass. I shouldn’t have to tell you who made what anymore.

That only took five minutes.

French onion soup

This is the featured salad. I think it’s a fairly new item. It’s big enough to be a meal it’s own. It’s the Smoked Salmon with Farro and Goat Cheese Salad.

The ribs are definitely different. It’s less edible meat than usual. They used to come with cream corn and beans. I never ate the beans but loved the cream corn.

I’m not a coleslaw guy but I have occasionally had some coleslaws that temporarily changed my mind. This is not one of them. Now I’m glad that salad was big because I’m not eating much of this.

This is the Bartlett Pear Almond Cake.

I also got a chocolate martini.

I saw this on social media from someone on the ship.

Showtime = Go Time

It’s a full house in the comedy club for Daniel Dugar’s PG show.

After that I stepped over to the Red Frog Pub. Music Power is playing.

Asking how long each couple has been married. It’s four months on the right. They’re from my row, two pedestals down. On the left it’s 61 years. In the middle is the woman who won best mating call which was “your dinner is ready, I’ll be in bed waiting.”

All of the guys had the same answer on what they would make bigger on their significant other. I thought they were going to have a total match but on smaller the first two said attitude and the last one said legs.

I missed the end of that show because it’s time for comedy again. This is comedy host Krish. She seems to not be a fan of the movement of the ship.

Keith Ross Nelson

Krish really was having problems with the movement. She’s out. We have a fill-in comedy host now.

The comedy club is on deck 1 at the front of the ship. I’m by the wall so I can hear waves crashing on the wall.

Krish is back but admitting she isn’t feeling well. In 26 cruises this is the first time I’ve heard about a crew member getting sea sick.

Daniel Dugar

Everyone showed up.

My laundry has been delivered.

I’m off to bed. Tomorrow we’re in Princess Cay. Good night!
