Spirit: Embarkation
Good Morning! I’m driving in on embarkation morning from the Hilton Garden Inn Mobile West. It’s 10 miles from the port and a 14-25 minute drive depending on the route and traffic. When I first looked at this it gave me the lower route as the faster route at 14 minutes. Now it’s giving me the upper route at 16 minutes. That’s the way we’re going to go.
I don’t like this route. There’s an accident that has slowed traffic to a crawl. This is the nice part of it. There’s was a badly damaged SUV. I think everyone came out of it unharmed.
The ship is in sight.
I guess this is what you get when you have one parking lot for everyone. The 16 minute route took me 32 minutes to get into this line.
I took that top route. I would recommend coming from the other direction. The bottom route. Then you’re in the line when you get off the interstate. I had to go down, make a U-turn, and force my way into the line. The line literally started on the I-10 exit ramp.
I have been in line for 10 minutes to get here.
It took 12 minutes to get inside the garage.
Now you have to sit while cars in front of you unload their luggage. I’m going up and bringing my own luggage down after I park.
It took a total of 30 minutes to get parked after I got in line. I would definitely recommend taking a close look at Park and Cruise hotels in the area.
Being priority made a huge difference getting inside the port. There’s a long line outside. I was waved right in.
They are boarding so I should be able to get right on.
Next time we’ll cover day 1 on Carnival Spirit.
