Good morning. Today is President’s Day. We are supposed to be in Bimini but the Captain said we were expecting 30mph winds so we’ll see.

Here are today’s Fun Times.

I’m trying the lido deck coffee shop today.

The coffee was pretty slow for such a short line.

Let’s take a look at the conditions.

It looks pretty rough.

President’s Day was originally on George Washington’s birthday which was February 11th on the old calendar. It adjusted to February 22nd on our current calendar.

In the 60’s they moved it to the 3rd Monday in Feb so people could get a 3-day weekend. And since it’s close to Lincoln’s birthday (Feb 12th), it’s used to celebrate all Presidents–But mostly Washington and Lincoln. My two favorite presidents.

It’s too bad they don’t leave the TVs on. I enjoyed being able to watch Sports Center in the morning on Panorama.

I’m grabbing another to take to the dining room.

There’s a mess of confusion tying up all three employees. Finally one comes around and seats me.

I definitely feel like the French toast has shrunk since last year. These are like French toast bites. Two of them.

Fortunately that’s not all I ordered. The bacon is edible today.

After breakfast I got a spicy bloody mary in the atrium.

Bimini has officially been canceled.

Yeah you can really see the back of the boat going up and down. 

That is the steakhouse.

It looks like that waterslide actually goes off the side of the ship.

This is a good time to get a shot of water works since it’s closed.

It’s really windy up top but down here in the covered areas it’s not bad.

I got another spicy bloody mary.

Now with the weather people are camped out in the buffet so when it comes time to eat, good luck finding a seat if you don’t already have one.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles is on lido.

I’m switching to fun ships.

Here is the letter.

Deck 3 exterior is still roped off. One of the reasons I booked deck 4 was so I could come down one flight of stairs and step outside.

Kentucky and Auburn is on again.

Another fun ship. This time from the casino bar.

I took that to the theater for a Playlist cast Q&A.

It’s surprising there are no chairs setup.

Oh they’re carrying out their own chairs.

We have cast/dance manager Daniel and two of his singers Charlie and Ariel.

They are on an 8-month contract. 2 months in Miami. 6 months on the ship. This is their last cruise.

Something is a rye…

It’s been awhile. I just feel like there’s a huge difference between the last Reuben I had on Carnival and this one.

This is cheese cake.

I’m at the Red Frog Rum Bar now. This is the Beachcomber.

These nosebleed bar seats used to be my spot on the older ships.

Is that a standing room only bar?

I guess so.

I guess Alchemy opened early. It was full. I headed up to the room to change for the evening and take the do not disturb sign off for my steward.

I came back down and it was full and then some. I’m trying atrium for now. This is a White Russian.

Being a non-buffet person, I’m bored with the lunch options already. Maybe I’ll look for some conch fritters in Freeport. I did the conch salad the last time I was there. Wasn’t my thing. I think I prefer my conch cooked.

Carnival Tower. Now this is where on Princess it would be like officers vs guests. Which I think is more fun to watch.

When you’ve had 15 drinks and open up the alchemy menu.

I took a standing spot at the bar which is still full. I was a little iffy about letting Elvin do this. No muddled olives. No blue cheese olives….

I’m being told the Bimini stops for this ship have been sea days for the last two months. The crew were prepared for this to be a sea day.

I got a place at the table. I just have to make sure Leyla makes my next drink.

It’s over. It’s enough already. Get a Jayhawks jersey or something.

A (not so) exciting announcement from the captain.

When it comes to internet speed. Download is half what it was on Jubilee but still double what it used to be on ships. Upload is almost non-existent. You can still do it but instead of watching it upload like I did on Jubilee, I start the upload and go about my business. It finishes later.

7pm and no sushi eaters here. Rip it out and put in an Emeril’s!

I need to try this bar sometime. It’s outside of the dining room but it’s only only open at night.

Jambalaya Pasta appetizer portion. I wonder if there’s any meat. Jubilee was light on the meat but I’m not seeing any here. None

Overcooked bitter n blanc. The top pieces can break a tooth. It’s edible if you break them off but has a burned flavor.

It’s a full house for Thea PG show.

I used up all of the martini glasses at the Alchemy.

They have three now but they’re crew members.

This is interesting because this room was full on embarkation day with people playing checkers. It reminded me of the card room on Princess which was way bigger and always full.

But since then it’s had one or two tables in use. I always peek in because I’ve been waiting for it to be totally empty for a picture.

He was good last year on Venezia. And allegedly he has a new show this year.

So far it’s the same show. He sings in a bunch of voices and it’s good.

Yeah he did the Italian bit last year which was a good fit on Venezia.

He calls “them” on the stage. A guy screams “Go Chiefs!” And Jonathan says “yeah alright it’s over.”

I got the same seat as last night.

Mark Yaffee is hanging by the bar so when I grabbed this water I asked the bartender “Do you know anything about this comedian? I heard he SUCKS!” Just to see the reaction.

He laughed so I thought it was cool, but now I don’t know. I feel like he’s watching me or something.
