South Beach Airbnb

on
April 28, 2025

I was looking to spend one night in South Beach prior to a cruise. Decent hotels in the area were quite expensive. I started looking at Airbnb. I found a one bedroom condo with the location I wanted, good reviews, and a good price of $186 after taxes and fees.

The scary part about this one is it became 50% non-refundable 48 hours after booking and 100% non-refundable a week from the trip. That was a bit of a risk. But being a single person with no kids the only time non-refundable has bit me was the time we were held over on Panorama due to a COVID scare in 2020. I do try to avoid it when possible and my prior Airbnb stays have had a better cancellation policy.

I didn’t realize this Airbnb was in a hotel until I arrived.

I was looking at luggage storage nearby since check-in isn’t until 3pm. I decided to hold off and see if there was storage here because all of the storage places quoted me a price for 1 bag, then doubled it at checkout and said, “up to two bags.” It worked out for me because let me check immediately. I don’t know if it’s good or bad that my room is ready this early.

I guess this is actually a “condo hotel.”

This elevator was not working when I checked out, so I had to carry my suitcase and backpack down the stairs.

They have old school keys here.

The air conditioning works well which is important to me.

The TV has basically no service. You need to hook it up to the Wi-Fi and log into your streaming accounts to really use it.

I never understand why these Airbnb’s that don’t want to pay for TV service don’t just hook up an off-air antenna. I get 50 channels with mine. It would be a cheap one-time cost and give people something.

I could hear loud cars speeding down the road late at night.

I’m sure this is nothing to be…alarmed about.

Let’s check out the bathroom.

My last Airbnb as like this. I don’t know why they don’t just buy one of those soap and shampoo holders that hangs on the shower head, so it isn’t all on the ground.

It looks like they have a beach chair and an umbrella in the closet.

This box on the right has additional towels.

Wi-Fi information is on the table.

This place wasn’t fancy, but it has everything you need. It was nice having the room ready early. The elevator being broken on check-out day was a bit of an inconvenience. It was fine for the night but if I did stay in South Beach again, I’d probably look for a different place.
