Regal Princess: Day 7

on
March 29, 2024

Good morning! Today is a sea day and my last day on Regal Princess. It should be a good day. They have some interesting events on the schedule for today.

These are my morning balcony views.

Here are the breakfast specials for today. I could do the English breakfast but with today being the last day, I’m going to try the cooked to order items in the buffet.

I’m trying Princess Live Cafe for coffee. There is no line here but they don’t have large sizes either. I’m going to need two coffees today.

I’m trying a chocolate cookie latte. It’s pretty good but no where near the butter pecan latte.

We have some drama at the Princess Live Cafe!

A lady was ordering. I didn’t hear if she finished her order or not but a guy walks up and just says his order. The lady asks a question. The bartender asks her to wait one second (while he’s working on the tablet) she says “Okay, well I was here first but okay.” The bartender lets her finish her order. She ends up calling the bartender rude and leaving.

There’s definitely more excitement here than the International Cafe where  they have an organized line for coffee.

When things settled down, I ordered a couple screwdrivers.

The morning show here is called The Wake Show. The funny thing is they  film it Princess Live with no live audience and you watch watch it in your room later. I haven’t seen one yet. If I could sit in there with my drink and watch it, I would. When I’m in my room I have better things to watch.

Someone puked in one of the urinals in the bathroom by Princess Live. It just has an “out of order” sign above it.

Here is the library.

A couple of people are sitting at the table so I’ll try to keep them out of it.

They got the puke.

Morning show filming is in progress.

I headed up to the buffet to look for breakfast and found more urinal puke in the bathroom there.

They do have nice hand washing stations at the buffet entrance.

I came up here for the cooked to order eggs Benedict. They must have a rotation because today it’s poached eggs.

I caught a guy putting out fresh Benedicts on the buffet so I grabbed a couple.

Then I went looking for silverware. Apparently they put them on the tables here.

I hate cruise ship buffets. 1,000 people are running around in there. I’m in everyone’s way. Everyone is in my way. It’s so chaotic. I hate them. I’m eating outside.

Not much privacy on those aft balconies.

I haven’t tried this bar all week.

I grabbed a bloody mary.

I was heading to the culinary event and I mistook Princess Live for the Princess Theater on the schedule. I figured it out when there were only two of us there at the start time.

I’m hustling down to the theater and there’s a shopping event going on. I had to fight my way through there.

“HOT COFFEE! HOT COFFEE COMING THROUGH!”

One lady looks at my hand, sees a bloody mary and laughs.

Fortunately they’re starting late.

Cruise Director Allie

She introduces the Executive Chef. I know him from The Chef’s Table.

Then she introduces the Director of Restaurant Operations, Francisco. I also know him from The Chef’s Table.

The couple behind me seems to be taking turns not hearing what is said and taking turns repeating everything to the other one.

Next he said he’s making a Black Forest Gato. I thought he was cooking a cat. Apparently he’s baking a cake.

As you can see from the video, this is mostly a comedy show. I enjoyed it. This is something I wouldn’t see on other cruise lines. If Carnival did anything close to this it wouldn’t be on a regular Western Caribbean cruise. It would be a longer journey cruise.

Francisco thought his Black Forest cake needed trees.

After the show they brought in members of their galley team.

After that everyone was invited to tour the galley.

I believe that is where they do their special winemaker’s dinner.

Francisco and Chef are available for pictures and answering questions.

Here are some pictures of the Symphony Dining Room on my way out.

Guests vs. officers Jenga is happening in the atrium. I like the guests vs. officers events they’ve had throughout the week. It’s something I haven’t seen on other cruise lines.

The cups I said I liked on lido deck the other day are for sale at the casino bar. $3 seems like a good price and I don’t have to fly home. I may come back and buy some.

Hawaiian Tropics

The one college game is on in Club 6.

Since I left the ship they have changed this half of the Club 6 into a casino annex. They also changed Churchill’s Cigar Lounge into an arcade.

Back to Jenga.

I really only ordered one espresso martini but it took so long I’ll drink the two.

I’m not really a fan of the Good Spirits service. They’ve been the worst bar in my opinion.

I picked this bar because I can see the Jenga game from here.

Before this I was going to put in a second complaint about that Alfredo’s charge I got yesterday. The line was too long for my taste.

They do have a place where you can chat with guest services in the app. It’s a nice feature, but it really didn’t do me any good. It saved me from waiting in a guest services line but they didn’t resolve my issue.

Officers win.

Jackson is the manager here. He voided it and isn’t charging me for today. I have more than enough onboard credit to cover all of this. The next person may not so I’m making them do this right.

I’m skipping dessert because I don’t need it and you’ve already seen the two they have. My work is done here.

This is what is on in the casino.

I’m switching to Coronas.

I got the last brown one and next to last red one. They were out of the orange ones.

Here is the afternoon view from my balcony.

Deal or No Deal is happening in the theater.

I stopped at the Princess Live Cafe for another Corona. There’s a presentation in Princess Live I’m about to head to.

This is a presentation I haven’t seen on other cruise lines.

If you sit in the right spot, there’s a place for your drink.

This presentation is done by 2nd Officer Max Bungle. If you are interested in the slides from the presentation, you can see them at Regal Princess: Navigation at Sea.

After the presentation I stopped by the Princess Live Cafe for a couple of Coronas to take to my next presenation.

I am now in the Princess Theater for the Cruise Director Q&A.

Cruise Director Allie

After the Q&A we were all allowed to get on the stage. This is a first for me. I haven’t been able to do this on any other cruise ship.

Here are some pictures from backstage. The right side as you’re looking at it from the seats.

This is looking up at the lights and curtains. They go up several decks.

This is the sound guy.

There are multiple trap doors in the floor.

This is a look at what they have backstage on the left side of the stage as you look at it from the seats.

This is the entire Q&A group on the stage.

We’re on deck 6-7. Those curtains and things go up to deck 10.

One of these trap doors goes down to deck 5 but I’m not sure which one. They call it the pit.

On the left is Dan France. He’s the Sun Princess CD. On the right is Matt. He’s the assistant Cruise Director here. I know he hosts the comedy.

The party is over football fans

The party is just beginning futbol fans.

They have an old school photo gallery.

There are two more college football games televised today. I think there would’ve been a riot if they didn’t have the Texas game.

I am trying the vanilla latte now. I rank their lattes 1. Butter Pecan, 2. Chocolate Cookie, 3. Vanilla

17 Kts is what the ship was designed for.

Not much of a turnout for football.  I know this was not on the schedule this morning. It’s very possible most don’t know about it. And it’s a blowout already.

Good Spirits has a special cocktail menu from 5-7. If the menus are not out you just have to ask for them.

The Great Pumpkin

Coco Cafe

I’m back to get ready for dinner.

This is the evening view from the balcony.

I already hit 15 drinks for the day but my stocking up gives me 10 beers to play with tonight.

This is the entertainment outside of the steakhouse.

I have no dinner reservations. I haven’t had an option to make one for tonight all cruise. The plan was to see if I could walk up at the steakhouse or Sabatini’s. I want to get in by 7:45 to be out in time to see the main show at 9:15.

The steakhouse was packed. I didn’t even ask there. But Sabatini’s had a lot of open tables and I was able to get one right away.

We dine!

Everyone gets this bread and arancini

You get a choice of soup or salad. The salad looks like the one I had at Alfredo’s the other day so I’m going for something different.

Frito misto

Lobster tortellini

Lasagna

That was too much food. I’m getting the first dessert just to see what it looks like.

I made it in time for the main show but not early enough to get a seat. I guess that’s what happens when you have one show for the entire ship.

CD Allie

I just took a standing spot by the doorway. This is Jared Freiburg and the Vagabonds. They played the night I had Chef’s Table. I came in late to that one.

Elvis came out next.

They took their bows.

The CD brought up the hotel officers.

Then they played some more.

Then they took their final bows.

I need to run up to the room because my suitcase has to be out by 10pm and it’s 5 till.

I got it out there by 9:58 but I’m a little nervous because it’s the only one in the hall.

Now it’s a tribute to rock in the Piazza.

One thing I want to point out is the Piazza elevators.

In Carnival terms think of this as the glass elevators. Two glass elevators. Then the other group of four regular elevators. Well this is like each glass elevator has its own independent button. Then the other group all go together. So if you want your best chance of getting an elevator, you have to hit three buttons.

I’ve met more than one couple who hit all the buttons and one of them stands on one side, the other stands on the other side.

This ticks me off. It clearly says have your bags in the hall by 10. I had mine out there at 9:58. It’s still there at 11:15. Now I have to decide do I risk leaving it out there all night or just bring it in my room and carry off.

They never did take off that charge. It comes out the same because they gave me the free one today. I suspect the problem is because he went back to the day that they had me eating there twice and took one of those off. I think he needed to take off the time they charged me which would’ve been the third time.

That leaves me leaving $155 on the table. According to Guest Services I had $150 refundable OBC and I should get that back in a check in a few weeks. We’ll see.

I gave it till almost midnight and brought my bag in. I guess I’m carrying off. They picked up the luggage earlier than they were supposed to.
