Regal Princess: Day 2
Here’s something you have to get used to here. That light comes on automatically when you walk in that part of the room. And it goes off automatically a minute or two after you leave that area of the room.
Here’s the way my morning went for me. I got up in the dark and walked into this.
I walk to the bathroom and this unexpected light comes on when my eyes weren’t ready for it.
Then I tried to turn the unexpected light off but you can’t so I was just turning all of the other lights on and off. Then when I laid back down and waited for that light to go off it wouldn’t. I go back over there and it turns out it did go off but I had left the bathroom light on.
Here is today’s schedule of events.
On the TV this is pretty much what you have. News and tennis.
But the on-demand selection is pretty nice. Normally I would show you everything, but it’s way too much this time.
TV series. I love that Cheers and Love Boat are on here. That would keep me occupied on a transatlantic. It’s pretty random that Superior Donuts is on this. That’s a series I was watching that didn’t make it. It only went like two seasons.
Madam secretary is another good one.
All of the shows on that channel I watch on Carnival are under Ocean Originals.
I fixed my light problem with some duct tape.
This is the breakfast room service card.
I headed down to the International Cafe in the atrium for coffee.
The way this works is you order on the right and pickup on the left. Apparently people do walk around in their pajamas on Princess as well.
I’m not sure what the atrium towels are for, but they have them.
Oh I see. They’re starting an exercise class.
I got a large mocha.
Then I headed to the Concerto dining room for breakfast.
If you asked me which line I’d be seated 12 inches from a crying baby, I wouldn’t have guessed Princess.
It looks like the switch out the right side of the menu and the left side stays the same.
Bacon, hash brown, pancakes.
I’ll take the NCL Jewel’s Tsar’s Palace for breakfast. I like their breakfast food best so far as well.
Good spirits is the first bar open at 8am. Two screwdrivers and one straw. They have paper straws here which I think are better than Carnival’s candy straws. But I’m going with NCL’s biodegradable straws as the best. They work as well as normal plastic straws.
It was a pretty long bar wait. Due to that and having to figure my way around the ship and whatnot was 10 mins late for the welcome to Princess presentation. Looks like they were giving away free mimosas on the way in. But I came prepared.
I don’t understand why half of the seats are facing away from the stage.
On my way here to they were doing a fruit carving presentation. It’s crazy the people that feel the need to stand right in front of them the entire time. The other ships I’ve seen this on it’s been in an area where they could project it on a big screen.
CD is hosting this event. It’s basically just games and giveaways so far.
This Entertainment Director is funny. Apparently he used to be a CD.
When they do giveaways here they tell everyone to hold their medallions up. But you don’t really have to do that. They know who is in this room without holding them up. The grand prize was a bump up to elite status for this cruise. I didn’t win.
I’m guessing an art auction is next.
The Allegro dining room. They have a private game of bingo gong on.
This is a smoking area deck 17 aft. There’s a little pool up here that I haven’t seen anyone in yet.
Let’s check out the aft balconies. That one on the left corner looks big with a big table on it.
You pretty much have no privacy on these.
This is a dumb thing I found last night when I ended up by the pickleball court. Maybe it’s their way of separating the smokers from everyone else. But the only way you can walk from 17 aft to mid, is to go through the gym. Last night I went up and over. Today I’m saying forget that.
Like NCL you have two pools in the middle of lido but I think this first one is significantly smaller.
Photo op below the big screen on 17.
This is supposed to be a fountain. A colorful fountain at night. Last night it wasn’t on. I’m guessing because of the movies. Maybe at some point they’ll turn it on but right now it’s a waste of space.
I like those cups.
Spicy bloody mary
80 for Brady is on.
The pizza today looks fresher than last night. They have the funky European pepperoni though.
I like the different ingredients though. I could go for some sausage, onion, black olive at some point.
Princess Live Cafe has drinks and coffee.
Captain’s Bounty. It’s pretty good. It has four rums, lemon, pineapple, and coke.
Future cruise presentation in Princess Live.
Veterans get together in the Club 6.
They are passing out champagne.
They tried to hand me the microphone. No thank you.
CD is passing out the champagne.
I stopped by the casino bar for some lunch drinks.
I was asked if I would take a shared table. They said they could seat me right away. That implies a wait for a private table. I asked for a private table and they still seated me right away.
Calamari
Seafood curry
New York Cheesecake
I stopped by the room for the first time today…partially because I don’t know where it is.
The steward was here. He put a box of kKeenex next to my nasal spray. First time I’ve seen that.
These people are stalkers with this medallion. I was hoping it was Chef’s Table confirmation but it wasn’t. They were trying to get me to lock in a specific time and table for the MDR
Let’s look at a couple reasons I wanted to book Royal Princess in Alaska. I think it worked out better because this probably wouldn’t have been a huge factor with the poor weather we had.
Sea Walk takes you 28 feet away from the ship.
That means be careful on your balcony selection.
On the port side is sea view bar
Pina Colada
Pina colada straw almost made it but not quite. I do like the biodegradable straws on NCL the best. I have my plastic straws in the room but if I can save them for my four carnival cruises next year, I will.
They really pack them in on lido.
They literally set up shop on lido.
Spicy bloody mary
The upward view from sea view bar.
Pool games are happening.
This is what we had in Spain.
Dirty banana.
A Man Called Otto.
It looks like wayfinding is working now.
I headed to Crooners and ordered a French Martini.
There is a place in the app under packages where you can track how many drinks you’ve had.
Bailey’s Raspberry
They’re getting the champagne tower ready for tonight.
Bugsy
This is the page I’m ordering off of right now.
Mint chocolate
I call that one 15 by 5:15.
I broke open the bottle of champagne they gave me yesterday.
They are already passing out champagne maybe I should grab one.
Such a great spot and nobody is here because I snuck behind the picture guy.
Officers
I don’t know a thing about champagne but the stuff I had in my fridge tasted way better than what I got from that waiter.
I’m glad I got my champagne already. Nobody is drinking from the actual tower. They’re dumping it in a bucket. And the waiters stopped passing out champagne now.
The steward was here.
That’s the last of it so today is going to be my 15 drinks, vets champagne, my bottle of champagne, and the champagne fountain champagne.
I headed down to the dining room for dinner.
I took the Chicago seat. our pregame is video and sound from times square
in
I had a corona at dinner. It looks like you can go over 15 but you pay for it. That Corona cost me $8.85.
Nobody took the front row on the sides so I moved down. I call this Chicago +
]
This was basically info and recreations of portions of broadway shows. So it’s interesting if you have no exposure to that or potentially if you do. I got excited when the Chicago parts came up.
I left a few mins early to make it to the comedic acrobatic thing
Class six MNF
Wheelhouse Bar
I guess we figured out the backward seats turn around.
Host
Carlos Oscar
Love Boat cast
grabbed a couple waters for the room
I put on Planes, Trains and Automobiles. I’m off to bed. Good night!
