Princess Cays Cruise Port

on
July 19, 2024

Today we are going to tour Princess Cays Cruise port. This is a tender port in the Bahamas. It has beaches, bars, shops, a free buffet, snorkel rentals, bungalow rentals, a viewing platform, and you can slip outside of the port area for a local craft market and a Bar & Grill.

When you get off of the water shuttle there is an information desk. The white board at the information desk has the date, hours of the buffet, and the time of the last water shuttle of the day.

Across from the information desk and in front of the Tropical Treasures gift shop is a beverage vendor. The bar staff and buffet staff here are crew from the ship.

The selection and prices is comparable to the ship.

Next is the resort store. Let’s take a peek inside.

Behind this Princess Cays sign is the entry to the water shuttle back to the ship.

This is where you go for the water shuttle back to the ship.

Moving along, we have another store. This one is Bahama Treasures.

This area in front of the water shuttle entry area is where they have the sting ray encounter you may have booked on the ship.

Now we get to the first swimming area on this side. This is going to be the most crowded area for that reason.

Along the walkway are some vendor kiosks including a hair braiding station.

We have come to the first bar. The Banana Bar. This is the biggest and most crowded of the bars.

Next we have a stage setup for entertainment.

There are a lot of chairs and clamshells in this area.

Back there is a play area for the kids.

This is the entrance to the kids playground.

All of these people in the white shirts are food service workers from the ship heading to man the buffet here.

Here is a map. We started at the Love Boat Maria on the right. We just passed the Pelican’s Perch up top in the middle.

This is the buffet area. The workers have just arrived. It is included. I don’t know what kind of food they have here when Princess is in port, but for Carnival it just looked like basic burgers and hot dogs.

I opted to eat on the ship instead. But if you are planning on spending the entire day here, this is where you get your food inside the port area.

We have come to the next bar. As you can see this is much less crowded than that Banana Bar.

Here is a look at the bar menu.

Next we come to Davy Jones Locker where you can rent snorkel equipment.

Right by Davy Jones Locker is a shower.

Behind Davy Jones Locker is the viewing platform. Let’s check out the view from up top.

In front of us you can see that shower and Davy Jones Locker.

This is where we just came from. The building with the yellow roof is the buffet.

This is where we are heading.

I’ll check out the view from that pier on the way back.

This is back behind us.

Next I came across an unused bar.

You may be able to charge your phone here if that power works.

If you want a nice quiet area away from the crowd, this is the spot. This is not a swimming area. They have the beach roped off.

Now we’re getting to the bungalows. These are available for rent. There are a total of 25 bungalows.

Each bungalow has a name and number.

By the bungalows we have another bar that isn’t very crowded.

And a set of restrooms.

I found an unoccupied bungalow to tour.

The last seven bungalows are sanctuary bungalows. This is a Princess thing. Only one of these was occupied while I was here.

The beach is roped off in this area as well.

As you can see it’s extremely rocky.

That doesn’t stop people from going over the ropes.

We have reached the last bungalow.

I’m going to head back the other way, check out the view from that pier in front of the viewing platform, then we’ll tour the other side.

If I were looking for a bar, I’d pick this one by the bungalows. Chairs, shade, view, and not very crowded.

The bungalows also have their own showers.

Let’s check out the view from the pier.

This is the view from the pier.

Once you get back in the water shuttle area there are signs leading you to the craft market outside of the port. We will check that area out last. For now we are going to the other side of the beach which is where I spent most of my time at this port.

Instead of exiting the port, go right and over the bridge.

Later we’ll go by that other bridge outside of the port.

This side is much less crowded. Some places are open but most are not.

Now we are on the right side of the screen close to the Sea Breeze Grill.

This is where you do all of your rentals on this side of the beach.

I don’t know what this is like when Princess is here, but the Sea Breeze Grill is closed today.

There are two lifeguards on this side represented by the red umbrellas.

There are some vendors over here but not nearly as many as on the other side.

These are the public restrooms.

This is the bar.

Next there is a volleyball and basketball area. Behind that it’s just beach.

This less crowded area is where I spent most of my time on Princess Cays.

Now let’s head outside of the port area to the craft market and George’s Bar.

To do that we just have to go back over that bridge and take a right. There is security there checking your ship cards and ID. Once you get past security you will see the craft market. Take a right.

Up here is the bridge we could see from the other bridge. George’s Bar is on the left by the bridge.

Here you can get beer for about half the price they charge in the port area. And they have local options.

Here are some prices. Beer was about $9 in the port area. They’re $5 here.

Everything is cheaper here.

This is the seating area in the back.

From here you can see the other bridge.

When you are ready to return to the ship, just go back the way you came and into the water shuttle entrance I showed you earlier.

You will have to go through some tight security.

Then you can board the water shuttle and return to the ship.

Watch your head!

That completes this tour of Princess Cays Cruise Port. I really enjoyed this port for a beach day.
