Planet Hollywood Cancun: Day 4

on
May 14, 2021

Good Morning! I am going to head to Fuel for some coffee.

Here is a look at today’s schedule.

And today’s weather.

I made it to Fuel. It looks like the line is four deep this morning.

This is a look at today’s ice cream and pastries. They only have labels in half of the ice creams so far.

Apparently they have two coffee sizes because one Fuel person made my regular coffee in a smaller cup and another Fuel person made my white chocolate latte in a bigger cup. But there are no sizes on the menu and I never hear anyone ordering a particular size.

After coffee I headed to the buffet breakfast bar for a spicy bloody mary.

They have someone different on the crepe station this morning so I watched her. She put strawberries inside unlike the guy yesterday. She cooked one side real good and the other side not really at all so I didn’t even mess with it. I’m going with some French toast and I got some ham off of the carving station.

Okay never mind. That’s not French toast. Those are ham and cheese sandwiches with mustard. They were next to the pancakes and waffles. Weird. I guess I’m just having ham. The ham is really good.

I am heading down to the beach after breakfast.

This must be the place Roberto told me about yesterday where they have the lunch buffet. It makes sense to have the lunch buffet closer to the beach and pool areas. It’s a little bit of a hike back to the So Cal buffet.

Red flags this morning. That means no swimming in this location.

I have some time to kill before the bars open so it seems like a good time to get pictures of the family pool before the families come out.

This is a smaller pool next to the main pool. I would imagine this is where the adults hang out with those loungers in the water.

This looks like the sports pool with the basketball hoop. The stage where they have entertainment during the day is behind it. Behind that stage is where the lazy river resides.

This is the main family pool area. The covered area on the left is the bar. We’ll take a closer look at that bar another day.

They have cabanas you can rent by this pool just like the adult and star class pools.

They have a retail store here and it looks like a little bar with TVs.

Around the corner are bathrooms and the hot tub. Beware of the person who sits in the hot tub all day drinking and never visits the bathroom.

Some of the walkways are a little frustrating to me. I would like there to be a walkway from here to there.

Instead of having to walk all the way down there.

I would like to have a way to get from here to there.

Instead of having to turn around and go around the corner and through the double doors.

These are the doors that take you to the adult scene side.

It’s hall mopping time. You can set your watch to it.

It’s a beautiful day!

This fan is controlled by the touchscreen between the beds. It has three speeds: Low, medium, and who needs an A/C unit?

I made it to the scene bar, also known as Jesus’ bar, but Jesus is not present. Max “Mad Max” is tending bar here today.

He is a bit mad. I ordered a double bloody Mary and the handed me the bottle to pour my own liquor. I declined. He started pouring and said tell me when to stop. I think I got about half a glass of vodka here. And that was before the ice was added.

The nice couple from yesterday was here for the past 45 minutes getting their last drinks. And I mean to the point where their airport ride came to the bar and said “let’s go” while their last drinks were being made…to go. Good people. And I’m not just saying that because I think expect them to read this. I wish they were here the rest of the week. That’s one of the differences between cruises and resorts. Here people come and go. Sometimes it’s good. Sometimes it’s bad.

This is a BBC from Mad Max. That’s a Baileys Banana Colada. It’s very good.

This Russian or Eastern European guy taps me on the shoulder. I thought he was telling me I dropped money out of my pocket or something. I had just pulled out the tip so it can happen. I look around on the ground. Nope nothing there. I think he wanted me to move so he could order. I’m like “Uh. I’m sitting on a bar stool. There are two stools to my left and four to my right. Feel free to grab one.” It’s not my fault Mad Max is standing in front of me.

Mad Max insists on a shot of Jager.

I think if you sit at the bar with Mad Max you’re going to be on the floor soon. It hasn’t been an hour yet.

This is a bumblebee shot from Mad Max.

Liquid Marijuana from Mad Max.

Apparently Max thinks I need another bumblebee shot. I need to get away from this bar or I’ll be passed out by lunch.

I also had a shot of the brown stuff in the bumblebee shot. I just asked what it was. If you ask, Max will pour it.

Dallas Jenn and her friend are getting rainbow shots.

I just grabbed two waters for the fridge to go. Dallas Jenn and friend are here until Sunday so I’m sure I’ll see them around.

Based on what I was told yesterday, I expected the Catch restaurant to be open for lunch today but I don’t see anyone inside.

The guy in the Catch says they open at 5pm. It doesn’t sound like lunch is happening here.

This building on the right is building 21 which is the main Star Class building. That’s the building right by the Star Class pool with the best view of the ocean. I guess they don’t want you to walk through here if you aren’t Star Class. I don’t want to walk all the way around to get to lunch so I’m about to break the law.

If you book Star Class they have special snacks out for you in building 21. They also have the Star Class grill by the pool for lunch and a special room service menu.

The Italian place Gusto looks open. That’s the to go window for pizza on the other side of the entrance.

I am on the Gusto deck with views of the lazy river and the flow rider.

Bread

Cheese and vinegar for the bread.

Fried mozzarella

These cheese sticks are really good.

Ravioli

Mushroom risotto

Ewww. This lady is wiped out big time on the flow rider. I felt that.

That was a good lunch.

Now I’m not breaking the law since I’m on the adult side.

Here’s an after lunch look at the adult pool.

And the Star Class pool. That’s the front of that building 21 on the left.

The beach is down to yellow flag.

I’m heading to the beach bar to see Roberto.

I had him make me a pina colada.

The bar is packed as usual.

Something I haven’t noticed before: outlets. I may bring my surface and watch the game here tomorrow.

You can tell how windy it is with the trees. It’s been like this all week.

Roberto said Mad Max is the break bartender. So today must be Jesus’ day off and Max will go cover someone else when he comes back.

Roberto made me a Bahama Mama.

Roberto made me this. Apparently it’s a popular drink among Mexicans. It’s Smokey tasting. I’m sticking to the Bahama Mama.

Roberto made this one with coconut rum, pineapple, peach liquor, and passion fruit. It’s much better than that last experiment.

Roberto says he thinks Catch is open for dinner on the adult side tonight, not Braza. I was thinking Braza was closed last night which would mean it should be open tonight. Braza or Catch, whichever is open, is where I’m going to eat tonight. I’ll go to the other one tomorrow night.

Roberto is pushing the Indian restaurant, Sutra. He says everyone tells him Sutra is the best.

I have never had Indian food myself. I have been on Carnival Ships that had Tandoor. But I didn’t know what to eat. I didn’t recognize anything other than the bread.

My memory of that bread was from a time when I had to spend a 12 hour day as an escort for a Syrian truck driver. He didn’t know English. I didn’t know Arabic. There were no meals in that 12 hours. He did stop at a gas station early in the trip and he came out with…this bread. Like a flatbread but just the bread. Not wrapped in anything and he just threw this bread up on the dirty dash board. To my disgust he ripped piece of bread off with his bare hands, opened a container of plain yogurt, and proceeded to dip the bread in yogurt and eat it. He rips off another piece of bread and offers it to me. I decline.

I didn’t use the bathroom for 12 hours either. He did. As I watched him through the side mirror I thought he was inspecting one of his rear tires when he squatted down beside it…then I saw the puddle growing beneath him.

Alright that was a bit of a tangent but yeah. I didn’t want the bread. I have a bad association with the bread. And I didn’t recognize anything else. I have no idea what to order at an Indian restaurant so Sutra isn’t high on my list.

Roberto is out delivering drinks. Jose made me a Havana nights.

When I left the beach bar I grabbed a couple waters to try to restock my fridge. I’m still out of beer.

I’m heading over to the lobby bar I noticed the topless sunbathers from yesterday are at the bar.

And I need to restock my beer.

Eric is the bartender now. He poured me a Dos Equis Amber.

The sunbathers are blasted!

I bet they were here earlier when Mad Max was tending bar!

I grabbed a couple Dos Equis for the fridge.

I think I’ll have one now.

I’m going to have to restock my beer again. Here’s another use for duct tape.

Oh heck. Mad Max.

Oh gosh I have some new loud talking, door slamming neighbors.

It doesn’t look like Braza is opening any time soon. It looks like it will be Catch tonight and Braza tomorrow night.

Catch definitely looks open.

Seafood bisque.

Seared Scallops

Pan Seared Salmon.

They bring out a dessert cart here.

The desserts were so small I just asked for one of each. They were all pretty good.

I’m outside at the theater now. Tonight’s theme is Glow Night.

After the show they had a silent party where you can pick headphones from one of three different genres of music.

The DJ.

You can tell who is listening to which station by the color of the headphones. I’m pretty sure red is salsa music.

I got the late night munchies. I guess that wasn’t a very heavy meal earlier. They didn’t really haves sides with the salmon. Well they did have spinach with it but I didn’t eat it. It tasted like canned spinach which I hate.

I remembered the sports bar is open late and the couple I talked to at the Jesus bar the past couple mornings said the have good wings. I stopped by there and they had karaoke going. I asked if it could get wings to go. They said I could of I had my own container to put them in. Since I left my tuperware set at home, I decided to check out room service.

I ordered a burger using the television. They called to confirm my order. I thought she said it would be 40 minutes but it was like 15.

It’s pretty basic. Not exactly Guy’s but it was good enough for midnight.

I was spoiled for a few days. There is so much door slamming going on next door now. It has happened like three times in the past five minutes and it’s after midnight.

Well I’m going to bed with a full stomach tonight.
