Planet Hollywood Cancun: Day 1
When we left off in Planet Hollywood Cancun: Travel Day, we were just pulling up to the Planet Hollywood entrance. Security is pretty tight here. I don’t think we have to worry about outsiders getting into the resort.
The bellman, Eriberto, took my luggage for sanitization purposes.
The first thing you must do before entering the resort is sanitize your shoes and hands. This will become a common practice over the course of the next week. They have these at the entrance to every restaurant at the resort.
This is the Planet Hollywood Adult Scene front desk. The family side has a much larger lobby that we’ll look at later.
David at the front desk had me fill out some paperwork and fitted me for my bracelet. This bracelet indicates that I’m a Planet Hollywood Adult Scene guest. It will also serve as my room key. If I were a Star Class guest my bracelet would be gold. If I were on the family side it would be purple.
I arrived around 1pm but check-in wasn’t until 3pm. David said I could go enjoy the resort and return at 3pm for check-in.
They have a lounge with drinks and snacks across from the front desk but I planned on eating my first meal at Guy’s Burger Joint. Here is a look at what they had available for new arrivals.
When you exit the front desk you come to an open air waiting area and The Scene bar.
They have Dos Equis and Dos Equis Amber on tap. I think I’ll start with a Dos Equis Amber.
These are the resort credits. When you see “$500 resort credits,” it’s not $500 to do whatever you want. It’s $50 off spa, $20 off an excursion, $100 off a room upgrade, spend $50 in the gift shop get $50 free, etc. Some people use them. I didn’t.
My bartender Jesus said I needed something stronger than a beer. He wanted me to take a shot of tequila. We negotiated and agreed on Kraken, a very good spiced rum.
I was ready to find Guy’s Burger Joint but Jesus didn’t want me to leave. He made me this mixed drink with the Kraken spiced rum. It was very good.
After that drink I said good bye to Jesus and headed out to search for Guy’s Burger Joint.
It didn’t take long to find. The line didn’t look bad either.
This menu is a little different than what I’m used to on the Carnival ships but Righteous Ring looks like it is the equivalent of the Ringer which is my usual.
The fries look different. The bun looks different. They appear to have cole slaw instead of lettuce.
It’s a long wait for a burger here. I have been standing here for 20 minutes. The ice in my drink has melted. I just took a peek and there are eight more tickets before mine.
It was almost check-in time so I left and returned to the front desk. My room was ready. David checked me in. I took my room number to Eriberto who sanitized my suitcase earlier. Eriberto delivered the suitcase to my room and gave me a tour. That happened so quick I headed back to Guy’s to see if my burger was ready.
After lunch I headed back to my room to get settled in. My room is about 40 steps from the Adult Scene front desk and 55 steps from The Scene bar where Jesus works.
This is a storage area next to the closets.
This is the first of two closets. This one included a safe. The safe is big enough to put a laptop or tablet inside of it.
They never re-stocked my fridge. Maybe they would have if I asked. I just did it myself by requesting a of couple waters or beers from a bar before heading back to my room. There is also a coffee maker but with the coffee shop just a short walk away, I would never use it.
This is the second closet. It includes an umbrella and a steamer.
This is unique seating in the living room area. This area has a power outlet and USB connections. The liquor dispenser on the wall is empty due to Covid-19 precautions.
I’d like to solve the puzzle, please.
I got a swim out room which includes a patio with two chairs and a table and a faux grass yard.
It also includes this comfortable outdoor bed.
And of course the loungers and swim out.
This is the bathroom. It has two sink areas, shelves, and a hair dryer.
The bathroom has a separate room for the toilet.
The shower is walk-in.
It includes a bench seat, a removeable shower sprayer, and a large shower head.
They never replaced these. Maybe they would have had I requested it. I brought my own soap. I did use their shampoo and conditioner but I had some of my own I started using when I ran out towards the end of my trip.
This is a look at the second sink area. The purple button on the mirror turns the mirror lights on.
The thermostat is touch screen and is located between the beds.
If you leave the door open it will shut off and say “close window.”
After getting settled into the room I decided to check out the pool bar. The Castaway Pool Bar is the bar at the Adult Scene pool. There are pools and bars for Star Class and the Family side as well.
I ordered a pina colada and decided to take it to the beach.
The beach is on the other side of this bridge.
This is the Baywatch Bar which is the beach bar on the adult side.
Roberto made me a Malibu Bay Breeze.
There are plenty of available loungers on the beach.
This is a look back over a the Adult pool from the Baywatch Beach Bar.
I’m heading back over the bridge. This is a look back at the Baywatch Beach Bar.
This is the Star Class pool area.
This is the adult pool area.
I decided to go to Sunset Steakhouse for dinner.
They said it would be a 45 minute wait and gave me a pager.
I stepped out to the Twist bar which is right in the middle of the area where most of the restaurants are located.
I asked Hector to make me a sweet rum or vodka cocktail He said this one is called Havana Nights.
It was only about 15 minutes before the pager went off.
The restaurants are using these portable menu boards.
hail to caesar salad.
This is the ribeye and baked potato.
After the steakhouse I got some ice cream from the coffee shop. This is an egg nog flavored ice cream. It’s pretty good.
The nightly show is happening at the theater. Tonight is super hero night.
Deadpool liked to dance.
I stopped by the overtime sports bar for a Dos Equis Amber
It looks like Superman is thirsty as well.
