New Orleans: Walking to the Port
If you are staying at a hotel in the port area and want to walk to the port, it can be a little tricky. On a map it looks like you can just walk through the New Orleans Convention Center, but you can’t. You actually have to walk around it. You don’t want to walk the wrong way because the convention center is quite large.
If you are staying at Hilton Riverside you can walk through the Riverwalk Mall. If you’re staying at the Embassy Suites or one of the Convention Center hotels, you can walk around the convention center.
Walking through the Riverwalk Mall
If you’re walking from Hilton Riverside to the port you’re going to want to walk through the riverwalk mall. After you cross the Hilton Riverside Skywalk which is next to the front desk, you can take the escalator down to the Riverwalk Mall entrance.
Here is a video walking to the Erato street terminal from the Hilton Riverside entrance to the Riverwalk Mall. Once you get to the Food Court you have a decision. If you are cruising NCL you can take the escalators down to the Julia Street terminal. If you are cruising Carnival you have to go a little further to the Erato street terminal. If you take the route I use in the video, You have to make it down a large staircase at the end. If you exit the doors on the right side instead, you can take an elevator or escalator down to the street level and walk from there.

Walking from Convention Center Hotels
Hotels you can take this route from include, Omni Riverfront, Marriott Convention Center, Embassy Suites, Courtyard, Hyatt Place, Sprinhill Suites, and Residence Inn.
This video is walking from the Marriott New Orleans convention center. At the beginning I look right so you can see the Hyatt Place next door. When I get down to the corner and look left you can see the Embassy Suites. I will also show you the NCL terminal before proceeding to the Carnival terminal.
