Mr. Saturday Night
Tonight is Mr. Saturday Night starring Billy Crystal. I try to be back at the hotel two hours before a show. That gives me an hour to get ready, thirty minutes to get there, and thirty minutes to get inside, get my drink, and get to my seat. That meant I should’ve been back at 5pm today.
I didn’t get back from sightseeing until 5:30. I was out the door at 6:10. I started out 30 minutes behind schedule but now I’m only 10 minutes behind schedule. I should be able to get to the theater in 20 minutes.
There were a few times today that I probably should’ve taken the subway but I just walked because the time estimates were the same. I’m starting to feel it now approaching 14 miles on the day and 50 miles over three days. I’m going to save myself 8 or 9 blocks here by taking the subway.
I had to walk through Bryant Park. In the distance to the left if you can see the yellow umbrellas. They’re doing poetry readings over there. As I was walking by this guy was saying he has two people inside of him fighting over food. And he has to feed both of them.
I made it to the theater at 6:35 so I’m only 5 minutes behind schedule now.
This is another small theater. I’m standing in the very back of the orchestra and I’m closer than I was at Wicked where I was right in the middle of the theater.
My seats for this show are up in the balcony. I’m just making my way to the bar which is actually inside the theater here.
This is the back corner view of the stage.
I turn around and I’m in the bar line.
That’s an interesting beer name.
I’m happy that they have the Mr. Saturday Night cups. I was afraid they wouldn’t after Chicago had generic Broadway cups last night. They call this drink the Buddy Young Jr. It’s vodka, cranberry, and peach schnapps.
The view is from here is pretty good. The leg room is non existent. My knees aren’t in the the back of the person in front of me. They have that tiered seating so their wrapped around his neck.
The aisle seat helps with the legroom. But these arm rests have railings attached to them. They keep you from fully using that armrest. The other side of the aisle doesn’t have a railing.
A lady in the bar line said she saw this in May and liked it so much she flew her mother down to see it before it closes.
They don’t have bathrooms downstairs in this theater. At intermission the line for the men’s room went from the second level, downstairs, and all the way to the stage. They started sending men the the ladies room because nobody was using it a few minutes before the intermission ended. I spent the entire intermission in line for the bathroom.
There is a handicapped bathroom on the first level. I think the women were using that one which is what led to no line for the ladies room up stairs. You can see that handicapped bathroom behind the bar in this picture.
As soon as as I got outside of the theater it started raining.
I got into the first subway station I could. There will be no bars for me tonight due to the weather.
I stopped and got food from the Halal Guy’s. They have a chicken and rice bowl I heard is good. This is the large which is $10. They have a regular for $8.
This is what it looks like after you mix it up with the red and white sauce. It’s good. I was afraid that small packet wasn’t going to be enough red sauce but I was wrong. Good night! Tomorrow is embarkation day.
