Mets Game at Citi Field
I’m going to a Sunday afternoon Mets game. I just finished Top of the Rock Observatory. I am leaving from Rockefeller Center which is across the street from Radio City Music Hall and a subway station I can use.
Queens is where I’m going.
I’ll be taking the F train to Jackson Heights where I’ll catch the 7 train to Citi Field.
I may have a problem. The board in here says it will not stop on the five stops after Queens Bridge.
I got off to avoid going way out of my way. I don’t know where I was going but it could’ve been out of my way. I got off and I’ll re-evaluate
I’m using the City Mapper App for my subway directions. I need to walk a few blocks to another station to catch the 7 train.
I think I need to go up and across that bridge.
I was only going to be on that train for five stops. The change made it 13. But we’re here.
I grabbed a $2 water from a guy to drink on the walk. They’re probably $6 inside.
This Tom Seaver statue was just unveiled on opening day this year.
You have to go upstairs to the seats. To the right downstairs is the Mets Hall of Fame.
The Hall of Fame includes the Mets 1969 and 1986 World Series tropies.
These are the Hall of Fame members.
The one responsible for me being a Mets fan.
The Team Store is next to the Hall of Fame.
And there’s a memorabilia store. Now up to find my seat.
This is what $175 will buy you.
After checking out my seats I went for a beer. This is a Mermaid Pilsner from Coney Island.
I am exploring upstairs. My ticket says I have access to several clubs including the Piazza Club. That’s where I’m heading now.
I like this bar location right behind the 300 level seats. You could sit there then just walk down to your seat.
I found the Piazza club upstairs behind home plate.
This is a look out from the Piazza Club.
They have several food venues in here.
You can take a picture with Piazza here.
The food I want is even higher up. I’m going up another level.
This is a good beer spot. It’s all local beers. I wish it were closer to my seat.
The Jim Beam Club is where my food is at.
This is the place that I haven’t seen any negative comments from Mets fans this season: Jacob’s Pickles.
Jacob’s Pickles chicken biscuit sandwich and biscuit beer. This was about $30 for the pair.
I read that it’s not a good idea to take this back to your seat because it comes apart and gets messy so I ate it in the Jim Beam Club.
It’s really good.
I am back out in the food court.
I got a Brooklyn Lager from the Empire State Craft stand. I appreciated that she stopped service during the national anthem. It’s time to get back to my seat.
Before I head back here’s a good picture from up here.
Max Scherzer is pitching today and Mr. Met has gone full Scherzer. That’s with the one blue eye and one brown eye just like Max has.
We have cup holders and plenty of leg room here.
I found another Brooklyn beer at the grab your own beer place.
This is really close to my seat so that’s good. Pretty much every item has been $15 so I’m almost $100 in with biscuit and beers and tips. The grab your own beer thing doesn’t do tips. You just place your items under the scanner and checkout on your own.
We’re in trouble. We’re losing. Scherzer is out. They’re bringing in a guy who is 0-3 with a 5.11 ERA.
It was a great game for Scherzer. 7IP 1ER 11Ks. The thing is you gotta score runs to win.
Every plane that takes off from LaGuardia flies over. It’s cool at first then it gets annoying when you realize it’s every couple minutes. Then you have to start making bets on which airline is next. Is it behind the scoreboard or directly over the stadium?
We lost. I’m heading back to the subway with the crowd. I really wanted to see a Mets home run so I could see the big apple raised and a save situation so I could see the Edwin Diaz entrance. Unfortunately neither of those happened.
I’ll be switching trains at 74th and Broadway. That’s in two more stops.
I’ve been waiting 15 minutes for for the E train. I’ve seen four trains leave from the other side in that time.
The first train on this side is F. That will work. I’m getting on F instead of E.
I got off at 57th Street. It’s a three block walk to my hotel from here.
I made it back to the Hotel. I need to get ready to see Wicked on Broadway.
