Mardi Gras: Day 6
Good Morning! Today is our third sea day.
My room is pretty convenient to all of the entertainment on this ship. I have the forward room on lido. If I take that elevator down to 6 the theater is on one side of the elevators and comedy club is on the other side of the elevators. Just past the comedy club is the piano bar. Just past the piano bar is Grand Central. On this older ships you would have to walk from the front of the ship to the back of the ship if you were going from the theater to the comedy club. That’s not the case here.
I’m on the back of deck 17 behind the buffet.
This is The Tides Bar. It’s where you would normally expect to find the Seafood Shack on other Carnival ships.
I’m heading down to Della Rosa to get my Mocha and look at the paper Fun Times.
I stepped back inside for another mocha.
I decided to try Java Blue breakfast. While I’m looking this lady (sort of) pushes herself between me and the glass and orders six sandwiches. The guy working the counter looks at me and asks what I want. I tell him I’ll wait.
I went with what they call an omelet, bacon, cheddar. And a chocolate chip muffin.
After that I headed to the Pig & Anchor for a bloody mary.
Apart from the large buffet up on lido deck they do have smaller breakfast buffets in the Pig & Anchor and Cucina. This is a look at the Pig & Anchor breakfast buffet.
Stepping out on lido.
The Fun Squad has some kind of Wave show going on. Let’s see if I can find them.
They are filming it in Grand Central.
That’s always a sad sight to see the luggage tags. This means that tomorrow is the last day of the cruise.
They are offering priority debarkation for Platinum and Diamond guests. I have an afternoon flight so I probably won’t use it.
I don’t know where they got this information from. I do not have an early flight.
I just talked to Stewart. I had requested one of the Mardi Gras inaugural books from him. I got one from Panorama and figure I should be able to get one from Celebration. It would be nice to get one from Mardi Gras. Some people had them in their rooms. Some people didn’t. I didn’t. He just stopped me and said he’s checking with a friend. If he comes through his additional tip goes up.
I’m having some Street Eats and a beer.
This one is kind of like opening a surprise
Sea Dogs seems to have some different options each day. These are currywurst and Italian
Up on Lido deck the Groove for St. Jude line was long. I’ll come back later.
These carts are all over the place on this cruise. They were parallel parking in the buffet at lunch. The average age on this cruise is definitely higher than usual. Fewer kids. More rascals. This one is equipped with a horn.
I stopped by the desk at the Pixels gallery to pick up my platinum gift and pin.
The Groove for St. Jude line died down so I was able to make my donation and get my shirt.
I headed up to the Tiki bar for a pina colada.
The alchemy bar opens at 2pm on a sea day so I’m going for some custom cocktails.
Jason made me a coconut rum drink
I found another old alchemist of mine. Kat from my 2019 Glory cruise is here now. She was at the Tiki Bar earlier and I thought I recognized her. When I saw her here it clicked.
This is a rum drink from Kat.
Oh gosh. Jason is telling stories from the nude cruise he worked.
This is a watermelon vodka drink from Kat.
I’m going to bar hop in the French Quarter.
Fortune teller bar
The Hurricane at the Fortune Teller bar is more like a daiquiri. I wouldn’t get it again.
The couple next to me got one of the special Fortune Teller drinks. This one is made with smoke.
I’m stepping over the the Brass Magnolia.
I had my eye on the watermelon lemonade drink so I’m going to try it. The bartenders here are telling me they make the real hurricanes here. This bartender Viktoria was in the Pig & Anchor on my Panorama cruise last year. I wanted to stay and try a hurricane but I have to get ready for my steakhouse reservation.
This waiter has me confused with someone else. I was playing along because I thought maybe he was my waiter at Rudi’s or on another ship and I just don’t remember him.
I had that happen at JiJi’s on Panorama where the hostess remembered me from JiJi’s on Vista. As we got into it, I found out this waiter thinks I had the wagyu steak here last night. I was too far into the act to tell him it wasn’t me so I’m just going with it.
This is the selection of breads and butters they give you. The round bread is my favorite and I eat it plain.
For starters I was looking for something on the menu I haven’t had at a Carnival Steakhouse yet. I don’t think I’ve had their pork belly yet.
The pork belly was very good. It blew the Chibang! pork belly away. I still think I like JiJi’s (on Vista class ships) pork belly better.
I have had all of the sides so I went with my favorite the Mac N’ Cheese.
I have had all of the steak and lobster options. This time I went with the cowboy steak with a French seasoning.
I do wish they had a larger selection of dessert options. I don’t really consider fruit or cheese to be desserts. The chocolate sphere is really just chocolate poured on chocolate. Art at your table is a minimum of two people so I can never get it. I may on Vista in December though. Cheesecake is the go to here.
After dinner I headed to the Punchliner to see Valerie Storm. I had no problem getting in and getting a seat after the show started. The less discrete ones who came in late and sat in the front row got called out for their tardiness.
They had 30 minutes between comedy shows. I returned 5-10 minutes prior to the Percy Crews 2 show. There was room for a few groups that arrived after me in my area. I have seen Percy on another ship. He has a standard opener on his first night that’s pretty funny.
Tonight they had the late night comedy showcase in the theater. Valarie Storm and Percy Crews. Each gets 15 minutes.
I didn’t do any stashing tonight so I stopped by the pizza place .
That better stay on its own side of the hallway. The couple across the hallway are the primary suspects of putting a room service tray by my door the first night. Actually they’re the only suspects. The other neighbors are too far away.
The next day me and the guy in that room both walked out at the same time and were caught in a stare down. Partially because if we both came out at the same time, we’d run into each other. But I was also trying to convey to him that I knew they were the ones leaving dishes by my door and they better not do it again. It looks like it worked.
Stewart came through with my Mardi Gras book! Extra additional tip for him. Tomorrow we are in Nassau. Good night!

Thanks for the great review-I will be sailing Jan 2022
Question about Bar Della Rosa-Can you only get hot coffee drinks here?
Saint Greg
Bar Della Rosa is a full bar. I just chose to get my coffee there and my alcohol at other bars. There was one port morning that I had a Bloody Mary there before pig and anchor opened. But I know another guy who that was his primary bar. Alecia who made my coffees was his primary bartender. I’m working on a Mardi Gras menus page that will have all of the Mardi Gras menus and locations. It will be posted this week or next. In the meantime, here is Della Rosa.
