Jubilee: Debarkation Day

on
June 14, 2024

Good Morning! Today is debarkation day. Sleep wasn’t great last night. I had a lot of broken sleep. It sounded like someone was taking a shower in the room above me at 1:30am. I probably woke up four times.

I decided to try to make the Platinum/Diamond debarkation after the 5:50 wakeup door slam. I also have the debarkation debacle the last time I was in Galveston in my mind.

This is our last look at the Lido deck. I am back on this ship in August though.

7am Big Chicken.

I’m running late. Our meeting time is 7:30 but Kyndall just said debarkation won’t start until 8 so I could be good.

Cheers doesn’t work last day here since you don’t pay for the first day. I have enough OBC to cover most of a mocha.

I’m checking out of the room at 7:32. I was supposed to be in the lounge at 7:30 but we’ll try it.

I thought I remembered main lounge deck 6 being the meeting spot but I get down and see the crowd coming out of the Punchliner. Come to find out they filled both the main lounge and the Punchliner. I just have to wait until they empty the lounges before they let us go. There’s a lot of us standing here.

Lars is directing traffic.

Kyndall came over and explained everything because a lot of people are confused as to why they’re holding us. It’s just a matter of letting the people who were in the lounge on time go before they let us go. That’s fine with me. I’m not looking to cut in any lines. I’m just glad to be a part of priority debarkation despite being late for it.

Then she took over directing traffic.

Once the lounges were clear we got to go at 7:45.

I was off Of the ship at 7:48

Facial recognition was working this time. Last time when I was on the Regal Princess in Galveston not only was it not working, customs was fingerprinting a bunch of people which slowed things down to a crawl.

This time it flew so fast I couldn’t take a picture or even get my passport out. But I didn’t need it. I’m out of the port at 7:56.

You can catch an Uber on the left. Down at the crosswalk I can cross over to the shuttles.

I found my spot at 8. The guy at my spot took luggage.

My ride is here at 8:04.

They are waiting for the shuttle to fill up before leaving which is happening at 8:17.

And I just have to walk from here to there.

That concludes debarkation. Next time we’re going on Carnival Spirit out of Mobile.
