Jubilee: Day 1
I just boarded Carnival Jubilee for its 7th ever cruise. The first thing I did was head to my room to drop my bag off. I have a deck 16 (lido) midship interior room.
Here is a little video tour of the room.
I peeked inside a lido balcony. You can sit on the couch and look at yourself.
Here is today’s Fun Times.
The weather isn’t ideal today and it shows on lido deck.
I headed back to the Tides Bar for a Fun Ship. Since this is Galveston and they don’t have the drink package day 1, I’m paying per drink here. This is $13 after taxes and gratuity.
Battleship Texas.
Here is a look at the embarkation day lunch menu in the buffet.
I was afraid they may have dumped Sea Dogs on this ship when I saw the extensive hot dog menu at Beach Buns, but they did not. All of the menus from this cruise can be found at Jubilee Menus.
Here are today’s Street Eats.
Since I didn’t get breakfast, we’ll call my Street Eats breakfast.
I’m pretty sure these deck 17 beds are new. I don’t remember them on Celebration or Mardi Gras. They have two on each side of deck 17 and three in the back on each side of deck 17. I would imagine they will be prime real estate on this cruise.
The way I understand it that screen is broken. It will not come up and has not been able to do so for a month now.
My muster station is in Chibang again.
On Celebration I had to go in and sit down and watch someone put on a life jacket. Here they just asked me if I knew how to put a life jacket on. Then they showed me where they are located.
I put my phone in airplane mode. Siri said “don’t call me Shirley.”
That took 15 minutes.
Kyndall just announced that 1,000 people still haven’t visited their muster stations.
I had to download the Hub App again. I haven’t cruised with Carnival since I got this phone.
I came down to the Pig & Anchor to get a Bloody Mary from my man McCann–The Saints fan from St. Lucia that I met on Celebration in 2022.
Watering Hole is closed.
I thought Bar 820 on Celebration had a bigger menu than this.
Beach Buns has some good looking buns.
I’m trying to figure out if they made Teppanyaki smaller. It’s definitely smaller than Venezia.
We are down to 171 people who haven’t completed their muster drill.
I think that is Galveston’s Mardi Gras parade.
This reminds me of that time on Celebration when the guy was mad because they were seated outside at Rudi’s and it was windy. He demanded to eat inside for free.
I guess this is the art gallery. I heard there was a fight here earlier. It ended in a draw.
Breeze is backing out.
After that I headed to mid-ship for the Sail Away Party.
Cruise Director Kyndall Fire.
My suitcase made it.
And my steward has been by the room.
I am pretty much unpacked now. I guess it’s as good a time as any to breakout the wine. Security didn’t check this. Normally they make you take it out and check to make sure it is actually wine. It could’ve been anything.
This is the bottle that was left in my room on Regal Princess. For those who didn’t follow it, Princess was always trying to give me wine. They also gave me champagne and chocolate covered strawberries.
This is a 2022. I won’t drink wine that hasn’t aged at least two years. I couldn’t drink it last year when they gave it to me but we’re good now.
The sail away party is over and cleaned up. But we still aren’t sailing away.
We just completed refueling.
I stopped by the room, took a shower, changed into my evening wear, and refilled my wine. We are actually sailing away now.
One thing I’ve noticed that I don’t remember if the other excel ships have it or not is every railing has a nice place to set a drink. On older ships I’d be looking for a box or something to set it on.
It’s showing a 30-40 minute wait for the Main Dining Room.
50-60 minutes for Chibang.
Let’s go with Cucina at 10-20 minutes.
I see a lot of people using these as I walk down the stairs from 16 to 8. They have them on every deck so far.
It gives you all of the wait times. NCL has that. Princess has an interactive one where you can make your reservations on that screen. It’s good for people who don’t want to carry their phone around.
Baloney Sandwiches!
I am in place.
Nice local touch with the Pleasure Pier.
Frito Misto.
Short rib and broccoli/cauliflower.
Tiramisu
Showtime is a crew member singing Proud Mary.
The center stage band is The Residency.
Mission Impossible 7 is on the lido deck.
These are the new beds in the back. I don’t know why they need a roof under the roof but hey, they got it.
The first adult comedy show of the cruise.
Comedy host Clint
Cee-Jay Jones
Soulbound is I think one of the better Carnival Playlist shows. I saw it previously on Panorama.
I left a few minutes early to get to Tommy Drake’s show in the Limelight Lounge. This is PG comedy. Or as Princess calls it, comedy.
PG Comedy Host.
Tommy Drake
I don’t think I’ve seen a stand-up comedian juggle before. He was good.
The new Indiana Jones: Dial of Destiny came on at 10:30 and nobody is watching. Of course it is a bit chilly and the pool and hot tub are closed.
The first half hour was my favorite part. Young Indiana fighting Nazis.
It’s really cool how they did this. He did the acting at his current age. But they have enough young footage of him to replace him with his younger self.
A handful of people are in the loungers watching now. Well, a shop teacher’s handful.
Here is a peek at the Latin Fiesta in the Havana Bar.
Guest Services is fully staffed at 11pm.
Backyard Band Rocks in the Pig & Anchor.
UNC vs. Duke is on all TVs.
Late night comedy in the theater.
Comedy host Clint.

Looking at the on demand movies trying to find one to get started just to watch a little bit at a time. I think I’ll start with this MIB international. I don’t think I ever watched one that didn’t have Will Smith in it. I know I saw the first three.
I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is a sea day. Good night!
