Jewel: Ketchikan
Good morning! I think I left my coffee cup in the streetcar yesterday. I spent some extra time in the room this morning finishing my 4-5 cups of coffee. When I was leaving The Fall Guy was about to come on. I saw that in the theater in April.
I stopped by O’Sheehan’s and had the bartender make me one of these coffee drinks I saw him making yesterday. They’re really good.
Then I got my breakfast drinks.
Let’s take a look outside.
I’m in the market for a coffee cup if I can find the right one. I’ve got plenty of the 16oz ones with no handle that I don’t use at home. If I can find a 25 oz with a handle here or in Ketchikan, I’ll get it. Otherwise I’ll wait until I get home and get one on Amazon.
When I got down to my second screwdriver I headed to the dining room for breakfast.
Shakshuka with Feta
When trying something new its good to also have something you know you’ll like.
This group was going around the buffet singing to tables.
I spent some time at the back of lido deck. These are bloody marys.
I found a duck.
I had some Guinness in O’Sheehan’s. I don’t think they had it last year because it seems I remember giving them a hard time about being an Irish bar with no Irish beer.
I saw this guy earlier carrying the outfit on the exterior of deck 7. I said nice outfit..
This is the lighthouse in the Totems, Eagles, and Lighthouse tour I went on a couple years ago.
I headed back to the dining room for lunch.
Flautas and Monte Cristo sandwich.
I’ve never had a Monte Cristo. It always looks good but that deep fried exterior was too much for me. I just ate the inside.
We have arrived at Ward Cove.
That’s an old Alaskan ferry that last I heard was for sale and an offer of 1mil to turn it into a hotel was rejected. They are now using it as a place for the seasonal tour workers to live.
That is where the Eagles, Totems, and Lighthouse tour I took two years ago left from.
I’m heading out to a bear tour in the woods so I put the Off on
It’s a madhouse. I’m glad my room isn’t down here.
That was an awesome tour last year.
This is the one I took two years ago.
This is mine on the right.
The guy in front of me is wearing dockers and a polo to a bear excursion. That’s like my formal wear.
I hope we aren’t in the school bus.
We aren’t.
For full coverage of this tour please visit Bear and Wildlife Exploration in Ketchikan.
I’m going to skip ahead to after the tour.
I at the downtown drop off option by Creek Street.
I wanted to check out the salmon run action here.
I’m following the salmon walk signs to see if I can get a better look.
This is a much better spot!
Let’s explore Creek Street.
That Disney ship is where I was docked with Carnival. You can walk to almost everything. The lumberjack show is right there
The last time I was downtown I ate at the Fish House and I’ll do it again.
I got the three piece halibut and a Fire Engine Red beer.
Berth 4 is the shuttle stop. That’s where I’m heading.
I made it.
They are sending the buses out full.
And we are approaching Ward Cove.
The shuttle bus driver gave us a tip on where to get a good shot of the ship.
Our shuttle bus driver is one of the workers living on the old ferry while working here.
I’m waiting for the guy standing between two empty seats to move.
We’re going off menu here. Pistachio martini
Toasted Almond martini
Adult comedy with Bud Andersen in the theater.
After comedy I stepped outside for sail away.
This is interesting. We have the sunset in front of us and the moon behind us.
The lighthouse from this morning.
Here I think I’ve managed to barely get moon and sunset in the same shot.
They really should do this in a private venue with a door that closes.
I stopped by the martini bar for a dirty martini in a walking glass.
Bus Andersen adult show #2.
This is a 10pm look at lido deck.
The glow party is happening in the Spinnaker Lounge.
The dancers showed up for this. I wonder if they know the difference between a glow party and a white party.
I got a letter telling me to talk to the internet manager about my internet issues. Half of the ship was in line for that. She issued a full refund but said don’t expect others to be as generous as her because I agreed to a partial refund six days ago. But that was before I knew it wasn’t going to work all cruise.
Moral of the story: Wait until the end of the cruise to complain on NCL.
I just thought it was interesting. One bathroom. Two sinks. One is auto shutoff and the other is not.
I skipped dining room dinner because I had that fish house at like 5pm. But around 11 something I stopped at O’Sheehan’s for a snack.
I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is a sea day and the last day of the cruise.
