I Have a Dream: 3rd Sea Day

on
April 11, 2019

Good Morning. This is the last day of the cruise. The weather isn’t looking too promising at this point.

Brunch

I’ll be darned. This is a double-sided menu. Whenever this side of the menu has been face up, I’ve ordered Huevos Rancheros. When the other side has been face up I’ve ordered streak n eggs.

My other side of the menu brunch order

Flaming tomato soup

Huevos Ranheros w/side of hash browns

A couple of annoyances this morning. I’m going down 7 floors so I hop in the elevator. A couple gets in to go down one floor. I heard the guy say “we’ve walked enough!” As they hopped in. It’s 9am, you probably haven’t walked anywhere today. For one floor take the stairs…gravity will do most of the work for you.

Then later I’m only going down two decks so I take the stairs. Here comes a couple walking up the stairs side by side. I’m sure that’s cute but I would like to be able to walk downstairs.

Red Frog Rum Bar

Whoa! This is my first lido deck Bloody Mary and man is it spicy!

Let’s talk laundry. As I mentioned previously I don’t like going home with a suitcase full of dirty clothes. I’m also not interested in paying the $45 i think it would cost for three of those paper bags I think it would take to do what I’m doing. So I use the laundry room on the last sea day. I book lido deck and close to the laundry room so it’s easy to drop a load (of laundry) step out on deck and grab a drink, then go back and move it to the dryer in 30mins.

The problem is there are only two washers. Sometimes they don’t work. Sometimes there’s a line to use them. Sometimes people leave their clothes in them all day.

I thought..”This time….this time I’m going to outsmart every laundrydoer on this ship. I’m not waiting until the LAST sea day to do laundry like every one else…No…This time I’m going to do it on the NEXT to last sea day.”

So yesterday I pop in the laundry room only to find out I wasn’t the only one with this thought. Only one of the two machines was working and three people were waiting for the one that did work. They’re telling me to go to other decks. I’m like no. I part of the reason I book the room I do is so I don’t have to lug clothes all over the ship.

So today I pop in and both washers are in use but the lady tells me the one that was broke yesterday is almost done. Cool let me grab my stuff. It ends. Nobody is there to move their clothes. Drying is free here. I’ve been on ships where you have to pay. So I figure no harm in moving the guys clothes to the dryer and getting it started for him.

I get my load in. Get my detergent in. I bring my own because I’ve been burned by their machine before. Guess what? Machine won’t start. I call guest services and they send a guy down who is able to start it with his maintenance card. Free wash for me. 10 min wait on the guy. It seems like that card operated system is always having problems. They should just go back to quarters. No problem bringing a few bucks in quarters on each cruise than dealing with that card reader not working. Anyway. My clothes should be done now.

Laundry Room

For anyone who hasn’t seen one of these. Apparently deck 8 has a ironing room just for people using ironing boards for formal night. I used the one in here. One person wait.

Here is the schedule of events for today.

Lunch

A ringer and fries from Guy’s Burgers and a Thirsty Frog Red draft beer

Alchemy Bar

Gin and Lavender drink

Casino

I’ve been trying to play some more blackjack on these sea days but nobody was playing yesterday. Which is crazy to me because it seems like those tables stayed full on recent cruises. I’m wondering if it’s because 2 of my last 3 cruises were out of Galveston and they don’t have gambling there. Where we have blackjack with better odds less than a mile from the port.

I caught people playing at one table today. Checked them out for a few hands. Looked good so I sat down. I was up $60 when a couple of the table people left. I left as well because I was going to be left at the table with this girl who was making really bad decisions. I went in $100 and cashed out $160. Then I noticed the other Blackjack table was near full so I checked it out. They all played a dealer bust hand perfectly so I sat down. Put in $100. Left when a couple of those people left. Cashed out $140 there so I’m up $200 on the trip.

Alchemy

This is a raspberry blackberry vodka drink. It reminds me of one of the kool-aid flavors.

I need to read this because I didn’t have any luggage tags delivered to my stateroom and I seem to remember hearing something about picking them up somewhere now.

Holy smoke! I only have an hour left to pick up my tags. I have to go back to where I just came from to get them.

Ocean Plaza

If you want an early debarkation number, don’t wait until the last hour to pick your number up. I got the last 21.

Dinner

Caesar salad

Mussels

Prime rib

Baked Alaska

Mardi Gras party

Alchemy Bar

This is a vanilla banana rum drink Jennifer made. It’s really good.

Best Alchemist in the fleet.

Strawberry Vodka drink

Going out to see us pass Carnival Triumph on the Mississippi river.

Night Club

Turntable from the night club

I ordered a pepperoni extra cheese but left it on lido when I realized the cheese and pepperoni were floating in a bowl of grease. Not that hungry.

I have noticed they don’t have the late night options other ships have at the pizza place. Lasagna, meatball sub, Caesar salad. There is a good eats thing in the tandoor that has chili dogs and stuff but it closes at 12 or 1

Debarkation Day

I checked out of my room by the required 8:30. I’m going to grab a little breakfast on the lido deck.

That’s the Fulton Parking Garage shuttle on the right.

Just as one fills up, another backs in.

The announcements that they were working on getting cleared started at 6:45. They started calling self assist for debarkation at either at 7:15 or 7:30. They started with decks 11,12 then went to 1,2. I know they called all self assist by 8:30.

All self assist and Luggage tags 1-10 by 9am.

Working those shuttles one pulling out, two in.

Once they called luggage tags 1-18 I moved from deck 10 to deck 5.

Someone had a liquor bottle in one of those cardboard boxes and the bottom came out. I think it’s tequila all over the ramp.

Private transportation

And I’m heading home!
