Hotel B & Hotel B Unique Cozumel
The Hotel B and the Hotel B Unique are essentially two wings of the same hotel with the B side being the older side and the B Unique side being the newer, more modern side. In this review we will look at both.
This is the Hotel B. You can see the walkways that go over to the B Unique side. The two share an elevator, lobby, restaurant, bar, and spa in the middle area.
This is a look at the hotel from the ocean side. The B Unique is on the left and the Hotel B is on the right.
Hotel Staff
The hotel staff was wonderful. Jesus was there to greet us when we arrived. He was the one who delivered our bags to our rooms. He was the one who showed us around our rooms. He was there to help us every time we left the hotel and there to greet us every time we returned. He was great.
Jorge was our primary waiter. We ate almost all of our meals in the hotel restaurant. We had drinks by the pool every day. The service was always outstanding.
The front desk staff helped with any problems we had during our stay and also scheduled COVID-19 testing for us in the spa.
On my second day in Cozumel I was downtown. I heard someone screaming for me about a block back. I turned around and started walking in that direction. As they got closer I noticed they were wearing Hotel B uniforms. It was two off duty employees from the hotel. They recognized me as a guest and wanted to see if I needed any help or advice. I have never seen anything like that at any other hotel. This staff is top notch.
Hotel Lobby
When you arrive they have mats to sanitize your shoes.
This is definitely one of my favorite hotel lobbies. It’s open air with a great view.
Rooms
Hotel B room 207
This is a look at a room my friend stayed in on the Hotel B side. It isn’t as modern as the B Unique side but it’s still a nice room with a great view. The one issue my friend reported was that he felt the blankets were a bit on the thin side.
Hotel B Unique room 320
This is the room I stayed in. I have absolutely no complaints about this room. It was wonderful.
I will mention this one thing. Having been on cruise ships and at resorts in Cancun, I have grown accustomed to having television stations in English. All I could find in English here were CNN and Fox News on channels 28 and 29 respectively. There may have been more English channels I didn’t find, but I would be prepared for just news channels in English.
That bottle of Mezcal costs about $10 if you want to purchase it.
They have local coffee and a condiment package.
The room came with a fully stocked fridge. They did not replenish what I drank out of it. I’m sure they would have had I requested it.
This is definitely the best view I’ve ever had in a hotel room.
This is a great spot to drink coffee in the morning.
Pools
First things first. Here is a look at the pool rules.
The hotel has two pools and one hot tub. We usually used this pool on the Hotel B side. The front portion is really shallow. the light blue portion is a little deeper. Then the “Just Be” portion is about 4 feet.
This is the pool on the B Unique side. It’s a little fancier with loungers and couches inside it.
This is the path out to the hot tub.
This is the towel hut. They usually have rolled up towels up on the bar you can grab.
Then when you are finished with the towels you can deposit them in this basket.
Drinks
This bar is on the Hotel B Unique side between the pool and the restaurant.
This is the view from the bar.
After coffee we would have a bloody mary or two every morning in the restaurant.
If you want a cocktail and a shot, they’ve got you covered.
If you want frozen concoctions like a pina colada, they’ve got you covered.
If you want drinks in the pool, they will deliver them to you.
2 for 1 Happy hour is 5-7. If you want to get both drinks together they will do that. If you want the second drink after the first drink, they will do that.
Dining
This is a look at the restaurant where I ate most of my meals at the hotel.
Breakfast was included with the stay. We could get coffee, juice, fruit, bread, and a choice of omelet, pancakes, or french toast. I tried all of the free breakfast options during my stay.
Here is a look at the lunch menu.
The restaurant can provide a great view of the sunset.
The QR code on each table will take you to the restaurant menu. This is their chips and guac which was mandatory for me at each dinner.
These are the ribeye tacos which were my favorite meal at the restaurant.
The fish tacos were my friend’s favorite meal at the restaurant. They were definitely better than the fish tacos we had downtown.
These are the beef fajitas.
The beef nachos were huge.
If you want a meal poolside, they will deliver it to you. These are veggie fajitas.
If you want a dessert to take back to the room, they can do that for you. This is the chocolate obscene.
Transportation
Getting a taxi cab was never a problem. They always had 2 or 3 taxis waiting outside. It was a $5 ride downtown and a $15 ride to the airport.
Actitivites
This looks like it used to be something for scuba diving. There was never anyone working there when I was there. But they did have helpful downtown maps behind the desk.
The hotel does have some watercraft if you are interested in that.
This is one of the hotel guests doing some stand up paddle boarding.
This is a group in a canoe.
Someone was doing some sailing on my last morning at the hotel.
If you are looking to swim or snorkel in the ocean, they have a platform you can swim out to and hang out on. I’m not sure that they provide beverage service out there.
Fitness and Spa
This is the area where you see fitness classes like yoga going on in the mornings.
Behind this door is the spa. This is also where they conduct COVID-19 testing if that is required for your return trip. COVID tests cost $35 cash and can be scheduled at the front desk.
This completes my coverage the Hotel B and the Hotel B Unique. If you’re looking for a Cozumel hotel that has the ocean, pools, a good restaurant with breakfast included, and a bar with happy hour specials, I highly recommend staying in one of their rooms.
