Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda

on
December 12, 2022

There are several ways to get to Horseshoe Bay in Bermuda. Carnival has a “Horseshoe Bay Transfer” excursion for $52 per person.

Another option is to take a taxi cab which will pick you up right outside of the ship. That will cost about $35 each way.

The most economical way, which is how I went, is the shuttle bus outside of the port area. It was about a 15 minute walk through the cruise port or you can take one of these courtesy shuttles which picks you up outside of the ship.

Once you get outside the port area this van will stop at the bus stop. They charge $7 per person and run all day.

The ride to Horseshoe Bay was not crowded. There were four of us in the shuttle bus/van.

It was a 20 minute ride.

Here is a look at the prices. $15 umbrellas, $15 chairs, $40 tents. Again I’m going with the economical way: free rocks.

The beach looks pretty crowded today. I picked today to come here because we are the only ship in port. Tomorrow there will be two ships in port.

Back that way is a little enclosed water area kids are playing in.

The water looks great. It’s crowded though.

I found a secure location for my belongings.

I went for a swim, then came back to retrieve my phone for some pictures.

After spending an hour in the water I decided to find a bar.

This is bad. There are no servers. It’s just a mess of people. and everyone is ordering multiple frozen drinks. I stood in this line for 45 minutes and still didn’t make it to the front.

When this guy stuck his half his arm in that blender and swirled the ice around, I knew the Pina Colada was out.

The only non-American beer was Carib and the last two sold before I got to the front. It probably would’ve been an hour wait total had I stayed. I’m not sticking around to drink a bud light. I’ll head back to the port.

There are showering and changing rooms so I was able to get the sand off and change into dry clothes before heading back.

It was another $7 ride back. This time they really packed us in. We had 25 people in the little shuttle bus. They used the fold down seats in the aisle and everything. I’m glad I got a comfortable seat by the window. I rode in one of those fold down seats in Grand Cayman a few years ago. It was not comfortable at all.

You can see the ship in the distance.

They were able to drop us off pretty close to the ship.

That’s Horseshoe Bay. The water is beautiful but it was crowded and nearly impossible to get drinks. I can’t imagine what it was like the second day with two ships in port. I probably will not go back there.
