Holiday Inn Express Wall Street

on
October 30, 2023

Where to stay in New York depends on what your purpose is and how much you want to spend. My first time in New York I found a good deal at The Warwick.

This time the best deals seemed to be at Holiday Inn properties. If you want to be near the port, there is a Holiday Inn Manhattan West for about the same price I paid. I initially booked the Holiday Inn Financial District. That came to $289 per night after taxes and fees. I received an email in February that my booking had been canceled and refunded with no explanation.

I ended up finding Holiday Inn Express Wall Street for $261 per night after taxes and fees so I booked with them. The reason I wanted to be in the Financial District this time is because I intended to go to the Statue of Liberty and walk the Brooklyn Bridge. The Statue tours leave from Battery Park. This hotel put me walking distance from Battery Park and the Brooklyn Bridge.

It’s only about two blocks from Wall Street Station to the hotel. I arrived in the morning and had them hold my bags for me. They offered me their free breakfast. I already had bagels so I just took coffee from the breakfast room.

Check-in is at 3pm but the front desk person told me they would have a room for me at noon. My suggestion is don’t go out of your way to get back here if someone tells you that. I returned at noon and was told by a different front desk agent the room wouldn’t be ready until 3pm.

While I was there I checked on my baggage. It was locked up in the breakfast area with a bunch of other bags.

I returned at 3pm and was able to retrieve my bags and check-in.

The room is significantly smaller than the one I had at The Warwick but it’s fine for just me.

There isn’t much closet or drawer space. I’m only here for two nights and I’m flying out so I just lived out of my suitcase.

They did have a coffee machine in the room. I’ll just grab the coffee that’s already made downstairs.

The room pretty much just contains the bed, bathroom, small desk, TV, and this wall unit on the side that serves as the closet.

I shouldn’t run out of desk outlets.

Here is a look at the bathroom. There is at least a little bit of counter space. The bathroom at The Warick just had a sink with no counter.

At check-in they offered chips, cookies, water. I just took water since it’s like gold here.

This is the view from my room.

This is a look at their breakfast area.

They have a business center with two computers, one printer, and a kiosk.

They have a small fitness center.

This hotel wasn’t fancy. It was clean, it was comfortable, and the location was what I needed. They offered free breakfast and coffee which was nice.
