Halloween Panorama: Day 3
Good Morning! Today is the second sea day as we make our way down to Puerto Vallarta. We set our ship clock forward an hour this morning. I think that will help me with Monday Night Football. I’m struggling to wrap my brain around it starting at 5pm. At least now it will be 6pm.
The one downside to the time change is going to be how to handle dinner tonight. When football was starting at 5, I thought there was a chance it would end in time for me to catch dinner in the dining room. Now I think the dining room will be closed by the time the game is over. I may end up with a pizza or deli dinner tonight.
When I came back in from the secret deck this lady stuck her head out of one of the forward facing rooms and was hollering at a Carnival employee–A deck cleaner I think. She has a robe on and a towel wrapped around her head. She was asking him what time we get off the ship in Puerto Vallarta. He said he wasn’t sure and continued outside.
She looks at me and repeats the question. I tell her tomorrow, “I thought we were there Monday?”, She asks. No it’s Tuesday. If you open your hub app it says tomorrow Puerto Vallarta. “I’ve been trying to download that thing and I haven’t been able to.”
You definitely want to download the Carnival Hub App before you get on the ship. Here is today’s schedule of events.
Here is a look at the TV lineup in the rooms. I believe it’s the same as what Mardi Gras had.
It’s 7am now so I’m going to head down to the promenade for coffee.
There were two people in line at Java Blue but none at the Ocean Plaza bar so got my mocha at the Ocean Plaza bar.
I took it outside and found a friend out here eating breakfast and drinking coffee.
I am heading down to the main dining room for breakfast.
Since I sat down they sat someone at the table that is just about five inches from my table. It’s so annoying that there are all of these empty tables and they have to seat someone in my lap. Aren’t we supposed to be social distancing?
I got steak ‘n eggs with a side of hash browns.
A couple things I saw going into brunch. A couple without masks. The hostess got them masks. And a couple without a phone to request a table. She sent them to the stand to get a table but told them to use their phone next time.
I’m not sure what the mask policy is on this ship. I see signs going into venues and going into the elevator. But I was just walking alone through an empty promenade and one of the white suit guys asked me to put a mask on. Then within 5 seconds I pass two people that don’t have masks on. If it’s required everywhere indoors why have a sign telling you to put it on in the elevator? You should already have it on right?
Mario across the way is actually our cruise director, Lee Mason.
Here it is in black and white….and blue…and red.
“We strongly encourage.” That does not mean it’s required. At least now I have the policy the next time that white suit says something.
I guess Lee was on his way to the Morning Show.
I stopped at the Tides Bar for a spicy bloody mary.
They have a pumpkin hunt going on.
There’s a good view from my budget Havana balcony this morning.
I’m going to get my next bloody Mary from the Pig & Anchor. It looks like they opened 30 minutes ago.
We have the blue cheese olives and some kind of stuffed pepper olives.
Yeah those pepper olives are pretty hot. I ate both of the blue cheese olives and one of the pepper olives.
Tijana from the Alchemy just walked by and tapped me on the shoulder. She’s covering breaks at the Pig & Anchor this morning.
I’m going to head up to Serenity to get a little sun.
There’s plenty of space available in Serenity right now.
I got a Pina Colada.
This is a mudslide.
A lot of people are running around looking for those pumpkin numbers.
I moved down to lido deck for the pumpkin carving contest.
Cruise Director Lee is on the end and Panorama’s master pumpkin carver is next to him. They aren’t eligible to win. The three guests next to them are.
Here is a short instagram clip.
I stepped over to the Rum bar for a Red’s Rum Treasure.
After the pumpkin carving I headed down to the dining room for unch before brunch closed.
This is the Cantina Burger. I personally like this burger better than Guy’s burgers. This is my favorite burger on the ship.
I stopped by the room because I need to reload on straws and whatnot. I’m walking down the hallway and my steward is at the end with his back to me. He was folding towels. I thought I’d try to sneak in with out him seeing me for once. As soon as that door clicks “Hi mister Greg have good day.” I look up and his back is still to me.
Deal or No Deal is happening in the theater. From what I understand it’s similar to bingo. People that aren’t on the stage still play by purchasing cards and matching numbers.
I stopped by the buffet and got some coconut gelato.
I think this is my second favorite gelato after the salted caramel.
One thing that’s different about the Mexican Riviera cruise is you can see land for much of the trip.
After that I headed downstairs for the opening of the Alchemy bar. Tijana is making my drinks.
I’m going to head back to the room to shower and change clothes. I have a game at 6pm and I want to get there an hour early to get a seat.
They have a guitar playing duo in the atrium now.
I got to the Hero’s bar an hour before Monday Night Football and that was only good enough to secure the last seat at the end of the bar. I do have a lot of space to work with here though.
The costume contest is tonight so there are all kinds of characters in here.
My guy Nikola went on break a while ago. I know I’m at 14 drinks and the max is 15, but I’ve had an empty glass and my card out there for a long time. I wonder if this guy knows I’m at 14 and doesn’t want to cut me off during a game or what but it’s weird.
When Nikola came back from break he got me my last drink.
The game is over. It went well. Now I’m in search of food.
They have violins in the atrium now.
Most of the food places are closed. I saw Pig & Anchor serves until 10:30pm so I decided to check it out.
Dragon Cheese Fries
I didn’t realize this came with fries when I ordered fries. This is the melt.
Mac n Cheese
That was all good. After dinner I headed to lido for the costume contest. This is the under 18 contest.
This is the adult costume contest.
The winner called himself “I work on the lido deck.”
The small group winner was the ghostbusters.
For large groups I voted for Captain Morgan and his wenches.
But Wizard of Oz was the winner.
Good night! Tomorrow we are in Puerto Vallarta.
