Glory Days: 2nd Sea Day

Good morning from serenity deck!

I’m on the star side spa deck. This half is serenity the other side has a camp ocean playground. Then one deck up is all serenity. There are five people here now. Upstairs there were four in one hot tub and two in loungers.

I had a great night of sleep. I love my room. I love my neighbors. I haven’t seen or heard any of them…which is perfect.

I think one set of neighbors may be dead. Their suitcase is still in the hallway from embarkation day.

Not really but it was still there this time yesterday which was odd. I know it was there before 5pm the day before so it wasn’t a late arrival.

I knew something was off with this coffee cup lid yesterday but I couldn’t put my finger on it. Now I’ve got it. This lid isn’t plastic. It’s cardboard. Overall it’s not too bad. Definitely different when you put your lips on cardboard. And I think there may be some absorption going on. But it’s not nearly as bad as the sugar straw.

I’m still leaving the TV on channel 19. Ocean Treks, The Voyager, and Vacation Creation are shows I like that are on it. There’s also a show I haven’t seen where a guy travels around on cruise ships looking for fresh ingredients to make cocktails. It sounds like another good one. Good spirits it’s called.

The front of the ship on this deck has a bunch of clam shells. Behind me is the playground.

The Serenity bar may be my new permanent morning coffee spot on this ship.

New upper serenity count is five on one side, ten on the other. We have four in one hot tub and two in the other.

They do have about 20 serenity colored loungers on the lower deck port side but before you get to the playground but there’s a ping pong table right behind them and I don’t know if I’d call it serenity with you dodging ping pong balls all day.

Atrium Bar

I had another spicy Bloody Mary from Christina in the Atrium. She seems really familiar. She said she was on Breeze and Freedom the last two years and I was on Breeze and Freedom in the last two years so I’m sure that’s it.

Main Dining Room

Here’s a look at the brunch menu. I had Huervos Rancheros yesterday so I’ll probably go to my normal Steak ‘N Eggs today…Steak medium rare and eggs scrambled.

Steak n’ Eggs. This is a different sauce than what I’ve been getting on other ships.

Buffet

I haven’t tried a Lido desert in a about five cruises. I need to make a point to try some of these cakes. I’m going to have a couple bites of this coffee cream cheese.

On Glory they have this in the buffet. I guess this is for ships that don’t have Bonsai sushi.

Guy’s Burger Joint

I was going to try a taco. I’ve never had a Blue Iguana taco. But the taco bowl was empty and nobody was serving it. The burrito line was 20 deep.

I went for another ringer and fries with a Caribbean wheat. Guys has that funny thing going where 20 people are in line on the one side and five are in line on the other side. I went with the five side.

On my way to lunch I was coming out of my room. I was halfway out the door holding the door open when I got something in my eye.

This rotund lady was walking by and I think she thought I was winking at her. I don’t know if I should be relieved or insulted by the fact that she didn’t try to come in.

Comedy Club

This is the military gathering. I’m in my normal comedy club seat. It was a little different than the other military gatherings I’ve attended. They asked each group (army, navy, air force, marines, coast guard) to come up on stage and everyone had a chance to speak. I didn’t want to speak so I opted out.

Alchemy Bar

After the military gathering I headed to the Alchemy Bar.

This is a Blackberry Vodka drink from Kat. Very good.

This is a Strawberry Raspberry Vodka drink from Kat. Another winner.

This one is a good Pineapple Vodka drink from Kat. It has lemon and a couple of foreign liquors I can’t spell or pronounce

Here is tonight’s dinner menu.

This is something I normally wouldn’t order but I’m going with a strong suggestion from my waiter.

Braised ox tongue

It was like really tender beef.

Oven roasted Mojito chicken. I added the baked potato and broccoli as usual. It was chicken and rice. It wasn’t anything special.

Comedy Club and Main Lounge

After dinner I arrived at the first PG comedy show already in progress.

Then I caught some of show “Getaway Island” in the main theater. I don’t think I’ve seen that one in 3-4 years.

Then I hit what was left of the second PG comedy show.

Alchemy Bar

There was plenty of space available at the Alchemy so that’s where I’m at now. Adult comedy starts at 10pm.

The comedy club here is called the Ebony Cabaret.

I would’ve thought that was a completely different kind of club.

This is one of the comedians. I’ve never seen or heard of him before but he’s pretty funny.

Alchemy Bar

This has Hendricks, cucumber, that’s earth tea on top, and there’s another alcohol I forgot. Milan made this one.

Apparently as of last week they aren’t allowed to set anything on fire at the Alchemy. I still see them doing the perfect storm but no flaming orange or anything like that. I heard the FDA shut them down.

Earlier I was sitting next to a lady who said she once had a flaming martini at the Alchemy and her acid reflux mixed with that and burned up her stomach and esophagus. She said she only ate ice cream and grits for five months.
