Galveston Beach Airbnb
I was looking for an Airbnb close to the beach (and all of the beach bars). I specifically wanted one close to The Spot which has NFL Sunday ticket. I ended up finding a small place at 3328 Avenue S which is one block away from The Spot.
This is the Airbnb. It’s a house made into separate rooms. Mine is the one upstairs on the left with the three windows. My total for two nights was $220 which was better than the decent hotels in the area and the location is perfect for me.
The entrance is on the side. They asked that you not park in the driveway. A parking pass is provided for street parking. On the day of check-in a code was sent for this door and my door.
This is another Airbnb on the left. When in the hallway I could hear everything said in this room.
Upstairs there are three Airbnbs. The one on the right is across the hall from mine. One of the days there was a kid running around in there which I could hear in my room.
I was in #4 on the right.
The parking pass is on the table. They charge you $500 if you don’t return it.
Make sure you bring coffee for the coffee machine if you want it. There aren’t any coffee shops nearby. I had one filter pack in my backpack so I had coffee one day. The other day I drove to a restaurant for breakfast and coffee.
I would’ve liked a place to put my soap and shampoo here. That’s my only complaint on the bathroom.
One hanger is a little odd. My clothes just took turns on the hanger.
One of the bad things I read about this place was thin walls. Sometime after midnight I heard people in the room next to mine come in. Partially because the stairs are old, creaky, and loud, but also because the people were drunk and loud. After that I didn’t hear anything.
The next morning I could hear them talking but it was muffled.
I would suggest closing this door while you sleep. That could help with the hallway noise.
I couldn’t figure out how to turn the TV on. The instructions said to use the remote. The only remote I could find is on the wall next to the fan switch. It was a remote for the fan. It didn’t do anything for the TV. I sent a message to the hosts about the lack of a TV remote. They read it but never responded. If you stay here I would recommend brining a universal TV remote just in case. You may also want to bring an off air antenna for basic channels. The instructions indicated it only had channels from the TV manufacturer.
The hallway began to stink on the second day because the people in the room next to mine put their trash out there. There are cans right outside they could’ve used.
One of the reviews I read on this place a lady said the pillows had someone’s hair on them. I brought my own stuff in case I needed it. I didn’t use the sheets. Mine are too big for this bed anyway. But I used my pillow and blanket. I love my pillow!
This is how I left the place when I checked out.
Towels together as requested.
Parking pass back where I found it.
I even made the bed.
I left the place spotless but they didn’t leave me a review. I’m guessing they were mad because I left them a four star review instead of the five stars they asked me for. I just can’t give a five star review to a host that ignores me. If the TV had a remote they may have gotten it.
I liked this Airbnb. It was nice, the location was good, and the price was right. My biggest problem was no TV remote and the fact that the hosts were unresponsive.
I know these hosts have multiple properties in the Galveston area. I would think twice about booking with them because any problems you run into during your stay may get ignored.
