Christmas Vista: Debarkation

on
January 24, 2022

Good Morning! Today is debarkation day and as you can see out the window, we’ve already arrived in Galveston. I don’t have a flight to catch so I’m not too concerned about what time I get off of the ship today. I’m up early enough to get coffee and breakfast before I have to check out of the room so I’m going to do that.

I’m heading down to the coffee shop.

Carnival Vista’s Christmas Village.

They took the coffee line out to the walkway instead of keeping it by the coffee shop again. Surprise. I’m not surprised.

Normally you would be able to use your Cheers package to get coffee on debarkation morning. Since you can’t purchase Cheers on the first day out of Galveston, you can’t use it on debarkation morning in Galveston. So I had to pay for this caramel white chocolate mocha.

I went ahead and requested a table for breakfast.

It only took two minutes to get a table assigned.

There’s no line this morning.

I received a text from the parking lot this morning. I can already say I probably would not park there again because it’s the farthest from the port and they need more shuttles than what they have. I waited 20 minutes. Some said their wait was 45 minutes. I know anyone who wasn’t on Vista didn’t get on my shuttle so those people had to wait even longer. Uber and Lyft were running $30+.

Our waiter is telling jokes.

why peanut filed a complaint?

he was a salted.

what you get from pampered cow?

spoiled milk.

why mushrooms are awesome?

They are fungi

What 0 say to 8?

nice belt.

What happened to the frog that parked illegally.

It got toad.

Why couldn’t the bicycle stand on it’s own?

it’s two tired.

I got french toast with a side of bacon and hash browns.

And a broken egg sandwich. I didn’t realize that came with hash browns as well.

After breakfast I headed back to the room. I was supposed to be out at 8:30. I ran a little over and checked out at 8:35.

It was about a 10 minute wait for an elevator. I would’ve walked it but I had my suitcase. In the end we had to catch an elevator going up to get down. All of the down elevators were filled with people and luggage.

I am off of the ship at 8:45.

The early luggage tags are to the left up here.

The late luggage tags are to the right up there.

Straight ahead the line splits into two.

Passports are to the left and birth certificates are to the right. You don’t need to get your passport out. Facial recognition takes care of it.

I breezed through customs with the facial recognition. Pre-covid it was always a nightmare here. It always took me 30-60 minutes at this port.

Texas requires you to pay a tax on and alcohol or tobacco you bring into the state. This is where you would claim anything you brought off of the ship.

This is the TABC declaration form.

This is the documentation on the Texas law.

I am outside at 8:54.

These are the parking lot shuttles. According to the text I received this morning mine should be in spot 13.

That’s my shuttle.

I made it to the shuttle at 8:57. I was going to have to wait for another shuttle. It’s a bit windy out and I don’t have a jacket so I wasn’t looking forward to a potentially long wait.

It turns out they had one spot left on the shuttle so I was able to jump the line and get right on this shuttle since I’m alone. I was on the shuttle at 9am.

I was off of the shuttle at 9:11.

And back to my car at 9:12am.

That concludes this trip. Next time we’re going on the Glory out of New Orleans for Carnival’s 50th Anniversary Sailabration.
