Christmas Breeze: Day 5

on
February 24, 2025

Good morning! Today is the last day of the cruise. I received all of my debarkation information yesterday. I’m not going to use any of it. I’m going to just carry off my luggage and try to do so early enough for the platinum/diamond debarkation

Let’s take a step outside on the “secret deck.”

Here are today’s Fun Times.

I don’t know what the flag is hanging for. I expected it tomorrow for the anniversary of Pearl Harbor. It is bartender appreciation day.

We have three people working the coffee shop this morning. I went through the line twice for my two cups.

My steward does this with the curtain and I don’t really like it because I always knock the cover off of the shower gel.

I’m opening my room up early today so I can hopefully get my laundry back early and get packed.

I stopped by the casino bar for a couple of screwdrivers.

I spent some time with John. He’s a really good bartender. He knew I was coming for screwdrivers. This bar has been closed on port day mornings so I really haven’t been here since the first sea day. But every night if he sees me walking by he stops what he’s doing and screams my name.

I’m switching to bloody marys.

The veterans appreciation gathering is going on. Maybe they hang the flag for this now.

My laundry is here so I can get all of my packing done today!

I like my room location. I’m close to the secret deck and the atrium. It’s just one flight down to the promenade. That’s been very convenient.

The only downside is I can hear things going on in the theater. If you go to bed early, you may not want to stay above the theater. But I’m usually up for late night comedy so it doesn’t bother me. We had the rough first couple nights but the last two have been good. No noise. No movement. I slept 8 hours last night.

I don’t have any neighbors nearby either.

I headed back to the casino bar for another bloody mary.

I requested a brunch table when I ordered this drink. It’s ready now.

I had a good long talk with the couple next to me. Me and the guy bonded over our Sketchers.

She let me take a picture of her beignets.  She took them to go and asked for more powdered sugar. They’re familiar with New Orleans and how beignets are down there.

Flaming tomato soup

steak and egg whites with brunch potatoes. I’m not sure where the toast came from.

I’m heading up to the Serenity deck to spend some time outside.

The Coconut Kiss has become one of my favorites. It’s just rum, coconut rum, and coconut water. It’s good flavor if you like coconut without any crazy syrups or juices.

Groove for St. Jude is happening now.

Coconut Kiss

And another

This time the bartender brought me a water as well. I always forget to hydrate.

I’m starting to feel some rain drops.

This is a part of the spa you can look down in from the Serenity area.

Talk about an early start! It’s only 2pm. Do you really want your luggage in the hall all day?

Security has been trying a long while to get in that room.

I was going to Alchemy for the opening but I saw they are doing a Martini tasting so I’m taking a short break in the room.

I was going to catch what’s age got to do with it but I forgot. I could hear it in the room. I came down but was too late.

I was hoping to get a quick dirty martini from the Alchemy before the cruise director Q&A. It looked like the martini tasting was done but apparently not. They should really stop putting the opening time at 2pm if it’s just martini tasting from 2-3:30. It’s not just this ship it’s all of the ships.

The first time I ordered from the bartender in the Red Frog Pub on this cruise I asked for a Shiner and a glass. Then I found out  they have the bottles so I canceled the glass. Today I walk up and she says “I bring Shiner with no glass.”

I went to the Q&A which is really just something to pass the time until bingo starts on Carnival. On NCL and Princess it’s totally separate. On Princess they gave us a tour of the backstage afterwards.

Put your feet up. Make yourself at home.

Some real taboo questions are being asked. LiA is 28 but couldn’t tell her salary. I know this may be surprising with the picture below but a former fill-in CD told me offline that it’s tied to what they bring in for bingo.

I was in the bathroom and heard waves splashing against the wall outside of the bathroom. So I had to check it out. Deck 5 is blocked. I’m going to my secret deck on 6.

Harry Potter trivia means no seats available at the Alchemy.

I took the back door and found a standing spot in no man’s land.

Filthy grey goose martini with bleu cheese olives.

I was getting nervous about my drink total. I know its up there but don’t know what it is. So I ask “St. Patrick” (Patrick from St. Lucia). He says I’m at 14 with this deal closer. So I have one more then I have the two Shiners in the fridge.

I’m checking in for dinner.

I want to make sure I have a glass for those Shiners so I walked in the pub. Immediately my bartender hits me “you want your beer?” No I just want a glass for the can beer in my room.

I’m going to let you in on something. I’m not perfect. I’ve done things wrong on the ships but they usually aren’t staring me in the face hours later. So I’m going to fix it.

Christmas music on the steel drum.

My table is ready but I’m really pushing it to make the 7:30 Holiday show.

Fried tomatoes

beet salad

coffee glazed roast duck

This is the team. I’ve never used them before but they got me out in 30 minutes at my request.

I had a small piece of baked Alaska as well but forgot to get a picture of it.

I didn’t get the best seat but I did make it to the Holiday show.

The Latin duo is in the atrium.

The string trio is playing Latin music in Ocean Plaza.

I stopped by Alchemy for my last drink. This is Nelson and Nicola. Nicola and I go back to the Panorama COVID cruise that was held over an extra day.

Beer pong

I headed to the comedy club for Chas Elstner.

here he asked where someone was from. They said Waco. He said where that thing happened. He asks the next person where are you from? She says Dallas where that other thing happened. He laughed uncontrollably for a minute.

I ordered a water.

The best barista is still making boring coffees at 9pm.

Sway in Spanish. If you haven’t seen “Out to Sea” with Walter Matthau, Jack Lemon, and Brent Spiner, you should.

I’m breaking into the stash.

I didn’t notice the calendar on the candy cane door.

It looks like someone threw a duck in there.

I headed to the theater for the Love and Marriage show.

Late night comedy was on after that.

I’m off to bed. Tomorrow is debarkation day.
