Celebration: Mahogany Bay
Good morning from Mahogany Bay on the Island of Roatan in Honduras! I haven’t booked excursions my last few times here. I’ve just been enjoying an easy ship/beach day while here. That’s what I’m planning on doing today as well.
If you’re interested in what all the port has to offer I covered the entire port area last year in Mahogany Bay Cruise Port.
I went to the page where they post the Fun Times and got a surprise. Someone put all of the Diamond lunch invitations where they Fun Times should be.
It wasn’t long before they fixed it.
Today is the last port day so it’s time for the towel animal takeover.
I’m grabbing a coffee. There is no line at Java Blue.
Here are their breakfast items. All of this is included.
And these beverages they have all day which I believe are all included if you have the Cheers package.
I’m getting breakfast at Emeril’s this morning.
Shrimp N’ Grits.
After breakfast I stopped by Bar 820 for their coffee martini.
They call it Calle Ocho.
Next I got a bloody mary. A crew safety drill is happening as well.
I stopped by the room to pick up my beach bag. I’m going to take a dip in the ocean before lunch.
I got into a bit of an argument with a lady in the elevator who said she paid $80 excursion to the Mahogany Bay beach and after looking outside, she wants a refund. I told her it’s free. She said it’s not. I said I’ve been here quite a few times. It’s free. She walked out.
Carnival Pride is also docked here.
I was surprised to find three free loungers together under a shaded tree close to the water.
I did not bring my waterproof case so I won’t be taking any pictures from the water today.
I spent over an hour in the water. I talked to a couple from the Pride who have been regular Royal Caribbean cruisers for awhile and are doing this one with their grandchildren.
I had overheard a couple from Celebration who were talking to them. They were telling them that this was Celebration’s first cruise and the ship holds 3,500 passengers. I waited that couple left before I gave them the correct information.
The showers were conveniently located right behind where I was.
I decided to head back to the ship for lunch.
Nobody did that.
This is what they have at Street Eats.
This is what they have at Sea Dogs.
I grabbed a hot dog and a polish sausage.
This is what they have for cakes.
Oreo cheesecake.
The Grinch is on. It’s the one I like with Jim Carrey. Unfortunately you have to be in the pool or a lounger to watch the big screen here.
I headed to Pig & Anchor for a bloody mary.
There is a bit of a kerfuffle in the Pig & Anchor regarding that drink station over there.
Apparently they only have that station turned on during meals in here.
Since it’s turned off people are thinking they can come up to the bar and get that fresh squeezed lemonade for free. Just in the time my bloody mary was being made it happened twice.
A guy next to me got a flight.
The flight guy is preparing for some serious cruising on day 5. He has the card that opens up to a ship map and a paper fun times and I guess he’s mapping everything out.
This guy is saying the drink package just went went down to 15 drinks with the recent fights. He’s saying it was 18 before that and 21 before that and 24 before that. I’ve been buying it since 2014 and I’m pretty sure it was a 15 drink limit then.
I stepped out to The Watering Hole for a Watermelon Smash.
I got another one and I’m taking it inside because it’s too hot here. The sun is coming right down on this bar and I don’t have any SPF.
Back at the Hero’s Lounge. I talked to a couple people. One guy is retired and cruises about half of the year. He is on his second week on this ship.
Then a lady walked up and asked if I was military. I don’t know if I have the look or if it’s because I was in the hero’s lounge. It turns out her son is in my career field and went to the same tech school as me. It’s a very small one so it’s rare I meet people who went to the same base as me for tech school.
I went back to the room to get ready for the evening. I left a little something for the Steward for delivering the inaugural book I asked for last night. I haven’t seen him since embarkation day. He probably hangs out on the long hallway most of the time and I never go that way. I love my location.
Alchemy was slammed but I was able to find a spot.
This is like a strawberry cumber sunrise from Nicola.
Now that’s a jacket.
this guy says he has a different color each day. I’m surprised it’s day 5 before I’ve seen him. Matching shoes and bow tie as well.
Stefan made this. I asked for no sour. It looks like it might be sour. I don’t know. I’m going in.
That’s actually good. Not at all what I was expecting. More coconut.
I had Stefan make me another.
They are out of cheese.
They have a solo guitarist playing downstairs.
Carnival Kitchen.
I was able to get in to the 6:45 Happy Cole show.
Happy Cole.
Comedy host Trevor is putting on his boogie shoes.
I requested a table for Cucina at 7. It was assigned at 7:05 so I canceled that and requested another at 7:11. It was assigned at 7:15 giving me time to get there after the comedy show.
I really could go for some real Cucina bread.
It wasn’t a long wait for the table but it has been a long wait for any food other than that piece of bread.
The table next to me has had problems. The chicken parmesan came out with no noodles. Then it took awhile to get the noodles. The desserts were swapped and the guy who ordered tiramisu started eating the lemon dessert. I guess he had no clue what tiramisu was.
I got the pork chop because the guy in the Hero’s lounge was raving about how big it was. He gave me the impression they had brought back the Tomahawk pork chop. This one is fine but it’s no Tomahawk pork chop.
The quality of this Cucina just isn’t the same as the Cucina you pay for on other ships.
Tiramisu.
This is what they had in the Main Dining Room tonight.
After dinner I headed to the Limelight lounge for PG comedy.
Gabby is the PG comedy host. She’s from Texas. I’ve seen her on another ship but I’m not sure which one.
Cee-Jay Jones
Thursday Night Football is on lido deck.
I was expecting Amor Cubano at Center Stage but it’s Deal or No Deal.
I found Amor Cubano in the theater.
Those look like what the servers wear to dance in the main dining room.
I don’t know how the early was. This is the late show. But there are a ton of open seats in here.
There’s only one other person on my row. The five seats in front of me are open. Look at all of these open seats on the other side of the theater.
That didn’t go well.
Thursday Night Football is on in the Pig & Anchor and Hero’s Lounge. But if you want to hear the game you needed to be watching on lido because there’s a band playing in here.
I’m going with the black one on the upper left.
I brought my shirt back to the room. My laundry has been delivered.
The white party is happening up on the serenity deck.
The only thing I had that was white was a towel…and socks.
The game is over. I’m heading down to the theater for late night comedy.
Trevor putting on his boogie shoes.
John Dicrosta.
This is adult comedy. That hat doesn’t fool me, kid.
Cee-jay jones.
I guess the kid is up past his bedtime.
I’m going to grab a slice before bed.
They definitely make those pizzas bigger at night.
I’m continuing this Grandpa movie I started the other night. It’s one of the free on demand movies in the room. I fell asleep 15 minutes into it the other night so I doubt I’ll get very far into it. Tomorrow is a sea day.
