Carnival Sailabration: Day 8

on
May 9, 2022

Good morning. Today is a sea day and the last day of the cruise. This is a look at the forward camera from the TV in my room. It looks pretty rough out there.

Here are the TV channels offered in the room.

Here is today’s Fun Times.

The sign across the hall gives you an idea of what’s happening here right now.

I made the mistake of stepping outside in shorts and a t-shirt. COLD!

This is what the pool looks like.

I’m hitting the lido coffee shop up. Notice everyone is in long sleeves. I didn’t bring any long sleeves. Some people bring them because the air conditioning in the lounges is too cold for them.

Apart from last year during the shutdown, I’ve cruised in late February or early March every year since 2016. I have never seen weather below 60 degrees. The only time I saw weather even in the low 60’s this time of year was out of Long Beach, California. This isn’t something you plan for.

I got a mocha.

I moved down to the casino bar to grab a screwdriver to take to brunch.

I’m going with steak and scrambled eggs today. I added a side of hash browns and crispy bacon.

After brunch I headed back to the casino bar for another bloody mary.

I’m in the atrium now. I’ve been sitting here for awhile on deck 3 and there’s been no guest services line. Normally on the last day there’s a line of people trying to remove their gratuities. I’m wondering if since this is a special cruise maybe it’s more experienced cruisers who don’t remove them.

“The sea is angry today my friends. Like an old man trying to return soup in a deli.”

About 25 seconds in you hear a noise, a loud reaction, and some laughter. I believe it was a lady falling out of her seat at the atrium bar behind me.

I had a gift card with about $200 on it so I applied it to my account. That pays my account off with another $69 to spend today. Any overage they’ll send me another gift card for the remainder. It’s a 10% off gift card so that’ll save me $20 on my bill if I use it all.

Edy from the Serenity bar is here at the atrium bar. He saw Bernadette (the bartender who has been training at alchemy) with my monkey and says “that’s mine!”

That’s what those boxes by the elevators are for!

The lido deck looks good through a camera lens but it’s cold!

I’m grabbing a Thirsty Frog Red.

I headed back to the aft pool which has a retractable roof on it. It’s much warmer back here.

I’m going with Abita Amber this time.

The lido deck looks good in pictures but it’s empty for a reason.

I feel bad for the Red Frog Rum bartender. Nobody is here. I’m going to throw some business his way.

Let’s race! Actually there are three of these by me. The two next door, which I bet stinks for the naked guy because they’re always parked in the hallway. And the room on the other side of me which is an accessible room so they park inside.

My last load of laundry has been delivered so I can pack now. I just throw all the laundry stacks in. Boom. Packed.

I’m going to throw a little more support to Red Frog Rum bar.

It looks so much better than it is

I’m having a Guy’s burger in the buffet. This guy comes up and asks if he can borrow my salt and pepper shakers. I tell him keep them. Take them home as souvenirs.

This is kind of like being at a beach resort but your beach resort turned into an airplane.

Support your local Red Frog Rum Bar.

Peanut butter chocolate layer cake. It’s really good.

Back at the Red Frog Rum bar.

On recommendation from the cake servers I give you the triple chocolate cake. It’s good but it’s a lot of chocolate!

One more from the Red Frog Rum bar.

I think they’re playing cornhole in the atrium.

I was 15 minutes late getting to alchemy and it cost me. I guess everyone was ready due to the weather. It was full and the bar behind the bar was nearly full.

I went upstairs to check the views. I think we’re seeing offshore oil rigs.

I went downstairs and grabbed an Abita Amber.

I checked into steakhouse reservations for tonight but all they have available is 9:30. With my last four cruises being Panorama, Mardi Gras, Panorama, and Vista, It’s an adjustment going back to an older ship that only has one specialty restaurant.

If I can’t get a spot at the Alchemy bar in the next half hour I’ll just to to the dining room as soon as it opens to free up the rest of my evening.

The Alchemy still beyond packed. I grabbed a screwdriver at the casino bar.

And another.

Last one!

I tried to get a table right at 5:30. It wasn’t available. I started to make my way to the dining room and finally it became available at 5:40.

On the way over this solo guitarist mentioned this was her last day on board. She’s from Italy. Two years ago she didn’t speak English. This was her first American cruise contract so she was proud of that.

Cobb Salad.

Shrimp Cocktail.

Fried Shrimp.

Short ribs.

Baked Alaska.

After dinner I got a place at the table! Bernadette is training with Janniel again.

Blackberry drink by Janniel.

It looks like we’re entering the mouth of the Mississippi river.

Janniel’s banana nut muffin drinks are popular. She just had an order for five.

I’m done for the cruise.

I headed down to the comedy club and caught Kenny Miller.

Then to the main lounge for the Playlist Productions performance of Motor City.

The band is playing in the Atrium.

I decided to get a Reuben before the deli closed for the cruise.

Good night! Tomorrow is debarkation day.
