Cambria Hotel New Orleans

Cambria Hotel New Orleans is one of the many hotels in the Warehouse District/Convention Center area that is reasonably close to the cruise terminals. They also offer a Park and Cruise option here.

The below picture shows the proximately to Erato Street cruise terminal which is where the Carnival ships dock. The Julia Street terminal is even closer. Norwegian, Royal Caribbean, and Disney ships would dock behind where the Carnival ship is located.

CRUISE AND PARK PACKAGE

“Stay, park and cruise. Enjoy seven nights of valet parking for your vehicle while you head out for adventure. Offer available per stay.”

When attempting to book the Cruise and Park package for this weekend the total came to $455 after taxes and fees. Booking just a room for that night comes to $183. That means they’re charging about $272 for a week of parking. You could park at the port for $175.

If I were doing it I would probably book my own room, then park at Fulton Garage. That’s a short walk. Then I would take their free shuttle to/from the port.

When I stayed at Cambria I booked it on hotwire for a total of $120. The hotel never collected the $6 resort fee.

The Cambria won the Best of Choice award in 2020.

These are the valet prices if you chose to park with them for the night. I would probably book one night of hotel parking at Fulton garage and one week of cruise parking at Fulton garage. It comes out cheaper that way and you don’t have to move your car on embarkation day.

The lobby has a bar, a seating area, TVs, and live entertainment.

There is also a little market in next to the front desk.

Here is a look at the prices.

They had shuffle board in the lobby as well.

Down the hallway by the back door is another seating area with a TV.

This is the first floor elevator lobby located behind the front desk.

My room was on the second floor. This is a standard room with two beds.

There are two outlets and four USBs by the bed.

The alarm clock has two additional outlets and two additional USBs.

The left half of this wall unit is a closet. The right half contains the coffee machine and refrigerator.

This hotel is in the Warehouse District where the buildings were old warehouses prior to the 1984 World’s Fair when this area was transformed. They did leave the ceilings looking authentic in this particular building.

Out the window we can see the old World Trade Center which was recently remodeled and opened as a Four Seasons.

Like most New Orleans hotels there are a lot of great food options near the hotel. Right across the street is a place I like to eat at which is Lucy’s.

I usually get the Cabo Shrimp and Grits here.

Sweet potato fries

That’s their brownie dessert. It’s not mine but it looks good.

Right next to Lucy’s is a restaurant called Meril. This is one of Emeril Lagasse’s restaurants. It’s named after his daughter and it’s more casual than his flagship restaurant, which is also walking distance from Cambria.

St. James Cheese Company is another place directly across the street from the hotel. I’ve never eaten there but I hear they have a great grilled cheese sandwich. It’s closed right now so it’ll have to wait for another time.

I enjoyed my stay at the Cambria. It will definitely be under consideration the next time I’m booking a pre-cruise hotel in New Orleans.
