Bermuda Fun Golf

on
December 19, 2022

If you’re looking for a relaxing day near the dockyard in Bermuda, Fun Golf may be for you. They advertise it as the “World’s Best Mini Golf.”  It features 18 holes that are patterned after holes at real golf courses in the U.S., Scotland, and Bermuda. I have to try it out. The course is open from 10am until 10pm every day.

Through the Fun Zone tunnel, take a left to Fun Golf.

Just pretend like this is a yellow brick road and follow it.

And we made it.

The caddy shack was easy to find. This is where you can purchase food, drinks, and Fun Golf.

$15 for adults and $12 for children. It looks like at one point in time they didn’t allow food or drinks on the course. Now they allow drinks. That’s good because I was planning on having a couple ice cold beers during my round.

I bought a round of Fun Golf and a Carlsberg.

There’s a group in front of me which gives me a chance to size up this first hole. From that tee box it’s going to be a tough angle for a lefty. We have two sand traps and a water hazard. The water is supposed to come in front of the tee box but the water level is a little low today. Either way you have to hit over that hazard on your first shot. These first holes are setup like ones at golf courses in Bermuda. This one is patterned after hole #5 at Mid Ocean Club.

I overhit and finished with a 4.

This is a look at the second hole from the green.

And from the tee box. This one is patterned after the 18th hole at Belmont.

I had a nice drive and finished with a 2.

I’m ready for three but a guy from the group in front of me is loitering on the green playing with his phone. This one is setup like the Port Royal’s 16th hole.

I finished with a 3 on the third hole.

The fourth hole has a nice shaded sitting area I’ll take advantage of. Brought to you by Red Bull.

I had time to kill at the sixth hole waiting on the group in front of me so I grabbed another beer. The guy working the caddy shack said this one was on him.

This one is designed to be like the 9th hole at Tucker’s Point.

I’m at the main walkway where several holes intersect. I’m going to skip 7 to get ahead of this other group and make it up when I come back through.

We are now getting to the ones designed like US golf courses. This one is like hole #6 at the Riviera Golf Club in California.

My first shot on eight is in the sand.

It went around the edge of the cup and out on that second shot. I finished with a 3 on the eighth hole.

The 9th hole is designed to be replica of Pebble Beach’s 7th hole.

I hit three of the four sand traps on the and finished with a 5.

The 10th hole is setup like the 3rd hole at Oakmont Country Club in Pennsylvania. You definitely want to stay out of the “church pews” bunker on the left.

AB2FEA4C-6E43-40E5-B51A-A7F0B3AA0551.jpeg

I’ll take that drive on the 10th hole with all of those traps I had to work around.

3BD9CECD-A873-4B7B-9FDA-5D10D895CEE4.jpeg

I really should’ve finished better than that. That’s a 4 on the 10th hole.

The 11th hole is setup like hole 13 at Pine Valley Golf Course in North Carolina. We want to stay to the right of the “wasteland bunker” on this one.

Put me down for another 4 on #11..

CCADBF65-28ED-449E-ADD8-E157D380A9F1.jpeg

On the 12th hole we have a bridge and a water hazard. We’re coming up on the caddy shack. I can probably make up the 7th hole after this one. This is known as the “golden bell” (hole 12) at Augusta National Golf Club.

I got a 3 on the 12th hole.

I’m back by seven and nobody is playing it so I’m going to go ahead and make it up now. This one was designed to be like hole 17 at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.

The remaining holes are designed to be like ones from golf courses in Scotland.

The 13th hole is designed to be like “Braid’s Brawest” (hole 13) at Gleneagles.

And I’m in the sand.

Another 4 for me.

The 14th hole is designed to be like the 8th hole at the Royal Troon.

I had a nice drive on this one.

That’s a 2.

The 15th hole has a deep bunker in the middle and is patterned after the 8th hole at Royal Aberdeen.

Somehow I managed to make that into a 4.

We are working our way closer to the ships on the 16th hole.

This one is patterned after hole #13 at Muirfield Golf Club.

The 17th hole was designed to be like the 9th hole at Turnberry Golf Resort.

I had a nice drive on this one.

2B9F7179-CB5F-42B6-9867-6613EAB43AD6.jpeg

My short putting has gone to heck as I’m rushing to make the back on board time which is in 30 minutes. That’s a 3.

B29F8D2E-6D09-4269-83DF-B2CDF7F7EE61.jpeg

This is the 18th hole. It’s designed after the 17th hole at St. Andrews.

My first thought is it’s easier for a lefty because large area to the left of the building. But there’s a hill there. I think it’s actually better if you can get to the right side of the building and straight at the flag.

D80CDE71-8283-4AF2-8260-2FF030E0B2BC.jpeg

As a lefty I felt I needed to go to the left side of the building but I underestimated that hill and my ball came back.

7056E7DC-C3D0-467F-B426-981C62CAA702.jpeg

Then my ball rolled down the next hill.

I finally got it up there.

That’s a 5. Not a good way to end the round.

FF0020FB-8675-47F0-84F2-7BA50B4395E2.jpeg

I passed the people I skipped on the way back to the ship. There’s no way they finished. I was three holes ahead when I went back and made up the 7th hole.

They do give you a scorecard but I never got a pencil and I lost my scorecard by the 3rd hole. I finished with a 62 and par for the course was 65.

D5ECFF87-45D5-46DD-A511-F7CDD93A2AA6.jpeg

I enjoyed this game and would play again. My main tip would be the sand traps aren’t really sand. It’s just paint. You can hit through them. If you try to avoid them you’re going to put yourself in a worse position.

I did get some practice in on the ship’s course this morning. I think that helped me with my shorter putts. It took an hour and a half for me to complete the course as one person who was shooting pretty good and skipping around to get in front of slower groups. I would allow at least a couple hours if you want to play the full 18 holes.
