Anchorage Hideaway Airbnb

on
October 14, 2024

When I selected this location I was arriving at the airport at 7pm and leaving on a bus at 7am. Initially I was looking for a place close to the airport. When nothing stood out I realized the most cost-effective option would be if I could find a place close enough to downtown to walk to dinner and the convention center.

The convention center is where I board my bus to Seward in the morning. Downtown hotels were starting at $400 before taxes.  I started looking at Airbnb options.

I ended up finding this “Hideaway” on W. 10th Avenue. As you can see it’s right by Delaney Park, just a block from downtown, and not far from the convention center where my bus was leaving from in the morning. I ended up getting this place for $158.

It was a $19 Uber from the airport to the hideaway. Since I’m walking to dinner tonight and the bus in the morning, that’s the only transportation I’ll have to pay for here. This is the location of the hideaway. It is actually through the covered walkway on the right.

The actual location is down the stairs to the right.

You enter in the kitchen/dining room area. Instructions are on the cabinet.

Having the coffee machine with the K-Cups is huge. The last time I was in Anchorage I had a hard time finding a place open for coffee before 8am.

I didn’t have time to eat breakfast in the morning but it’s nice that he provides it for you. I do like toaster waffles.

This is the living room area. I didn’t get a chance to use it at all. There are some nice extras here like a massaging chair.

Down the hallway is the bedroom on the right and the bathroom on the left.

At the end of the hall was a thermostat. My last Anchorage airbnb didn’t have air conditioning and I had to sleep with a fan by the bed. I do like it cool so this was nice to have.

The TV placement isn’t great. I’d probably move the bed to the other side of the room so you can watch it. But I’m just here to sleep so I didn’t turn any of the electronics on.

The bathroom is well stocked. There are multiple types of shampoo and just about everything you could need. The other airbnb’s I’ve been in have had very basic small single-use items like hotels have. It  was nice to have all of these options.

The host invited me to grab a beer from the fridge by the hot tub.

I went for this one from Talkeetna.

I was able to walk to dinner that night and the bus in the morning.

I enjoyed my stay at “The Hideaway.” I thought the price was great for the location. The host’s communication was excellent. He offered some amenities I haven’t had on my other Airbnb stays.

Even though I was only there a short time, I think this would be a great location for a longer stay in Anchorage due to it’s proximity to downtown. I will definitely keep an eye out for this one the next time I’m in Anchorage. You can book it here.
