Alaska Jewel: Day 7
Good morning! Today is a sea day and the last day of the cruise. We had a time change this morning. I thought my phone changed on its own but it didn’t so when it was 7:30, it was really 8:30. When I realized that I jumped up and got ready because they end breakfast at 9:30.
I headed down to the Palace for breakfast.
I just noticed they have a paper copy of the Freestyle Daily here if you need it.
This is the first time I haven’t brought my own coffee in. They left me a pot.
Loaded breakfast potatoes
Cinnamon raisin French toast
The have a cupcake decorating demonstration in the atrium.
They brought out a rack of cupcakes for everyone.
I headed up to the back of lido for drinks with a view.
I haven’t had my screwdrivers yet since I was in a hurry to get to breakfast.
I see mice.
Disney mice.
This is a look at lido deck. More people are out today as we’re moving into a warmer climate.
There are a couple of presentations I want to see in the Spinnaker Lounge.
I switched to bloody marys up here.
This one is future cruise highlights and cruise next.
This lounge is great for views.
I like a Q&A. This is the second one this week.
I’m going back to screwdrivers.
The Captain and the Cruise Director go on vacation in two weeks.
Disney
This is an aerial view of lido deck. Two pools, four hot tubs.
I guess it’s like a sun deck up here.
Hey look at that.
Suns out, pina coladas out.
They do have a manned soft serve ice cream station here. They also have a little buffet out here on the far end. I saw a guy with a burger that kind of reminds me of the “off the grill” Carnival had before Guy’s Burgers.
More pina coladas.
The NCL store was in the back of that Trade Winds area. I would put it in the front or bring it out of there. I really had to go looking on the last day for NCL merchandise because I just haven’t walked through there.
I thought this was the floor model but apparently it’s what they sell. I collect them. On Carnival they come in packages and are a few dollars cheaper.
I feel like this fridge is smaller than Carnival because I’m sure I’ve stashed steakhouse desserts in it there. Here I tried to stash my dessert last night but couldn’t.
I missed lunch in the Palace but I haven’t been hungry. This is where I will miss the venues like the Cantina, BBQ, Guy’s burgers, the deli and pizza which would all still be open on Carnival. The buffet is open 45 more minutes then they have a snack buffet outside. It might be a time to try O’Sheehans.
I got a great spot at O’Sheehans. I thought I was going to get a small table with no view. I may hang out here for awhile.
These pretzel bites are very good. I actually ordered them at the bar one night and they never brought them to me. I highly recommend them.
The wrangler burger looks pretty good. The fries look like they need a lot of spicy ketchup.
Those fries were cooked awhile ago.
The burger is pretty good. The fries are only edible with spicy ketchup.
I finished eating but I ordered up some more beers. I’m going to sit here a bit longer and enjoy the view.
I moved outside.
Actual people actually playing shuffleboard
That looks like a good Christmas tree right there.
This is a good place to go Christmas tree shopping.
I made a beer run to O’Sheehans. Then I’m going to head up to the room and start on my packing. I need to make sure I get in for the early stage show so I can have the late dinner.
This morning I had a light flickering. I didn’t report it because I didn’t want them in here working in my room on my last day.
The steward must have reported it because now when I’m packing and getting ready for the show I hear a knock at the door. They want to fix the light. I asked him to give me five minutes to get ready for that show. He said he would come back later. I just put my do not disturb sign up. They’ll have time to deal with it tomorrow. I’ve had one of those on embarkation day once. I left a note for the steward and it was taken care of. Just don’t screw with my last day to make someone else’s first day better.
The Cruise Director mentioned last night at comedy that for tonight’s production show they will close off the aisles when the show starts. If you’re late for the show, you have to sit upstairs. If you weren’t at comedy last night, you may not know that. They also cut off beverage service five minutes before each show.
For comedy they had one comedian. He did three shows. One PG show the first night and one adult that he repeated. They were 45 minute shows.
The front row that is usually empty is full today. I snuck under this railing for a second row seat with nobody on either side of me.
It is packed tonight. I’m guessing since tomorrow is debarkation day most people want to get the early show in so they can get to bed early.
It was a good show. What they did here is take the couple from the other night and build a circus show mostly around them. I was a bit surprised to see them participating in a production show since it said they were former NCL dancers. This was the best show of the cruise.
This was the couple that had their own show last night.
Then they did this song for the crew and crew were there lining the exits. It was probably awkward for those who left during the song.
This is my last sunset on Norwegian Jewel.
After sunset I headed down to the Palace for dinner.
There’s plenty of space available. I assume most people ate early.
Scallops
Ravioli with lobster sauce
Lemon pepper shrimp
Nutella creme brûlée
I started to get a runny nose at dinner. I’m feeling pretty not too good right now. Hopefully I’ll wake up better. The 30 hours after that are going to be pretty miserable.
I slept two hours. Got up. Threw up. Then slept pretty good after that. Stuffy nose and occasional cough. But it’s not too bad
