A Christmas Dream: 1st Sea Day

I’m standing in line at the coffee bar. Clearly I’m in line and at one point this lady behind me asks “Are you in line?” What else would I be doing there? I had my card out. I noticed she had a diamond card.

Main Lounge

The morning show and a Bloody Mary.

I was getting on the elevator going up to Lido. I push the up button. A lady walks up and pushes the lit up button again. I get on and push 10. The lady gets on and pushes 11. We stop on deck 7. Another lady gets on and looks at the lit buttons 10 and 11. Then she presses 10 again. I see this a lot but don’t understand why people push buttons that have already been pushed. Just an observation.

After the morning show I went to check out the 10am brunch line. It was too long for my taste so I decided to come back a little later.

Here is today’s schedule of events.

I went back and there was no brunch line.

I ordered the streak medium rare. I think this one was well. It was nearly impossible to cut much less chew.

Ironing Room

Before the Reds vs Blues mixology contest I decided to look for the ironing room since I’m on that deck (8) this time. I’m going to need to do some touch up on my shirt for elegant night tonight. I guess I envisioned a room with 10 or more ironing boards. Nope. Just the two. One more than a normal laundry room.

Red Frog Rum Bar

This is the Ting Mojito. There aren’t many drinks I try that I can’t drink. This is one of them. The bottom of that glass is loaded with limes. It’s too much for me.

I’m trying to get that lime taste out of my mouth with a beer.

The Lip Synch Battle auditions are happening on Lido Deck now.

This guy was on America’s Got Talent.

I had a Guys burger during the Lip Synch Battle auditions. One of the sides still had a long line by the other went down to two people. Some people blindly stand in the long line. I went for the two person line.

After that I hit the ironing room to touch up my elegant night attire. I figured that was better than having to wait in line for an iron in a couple hours. A girl came in wanting to iron some short shorts and said she couldn’t get the second iron hot–surprisingly. So it’s possible only one of the two irons works.

When I was finished ironing, I hit the casino and played about an hour of blackjack. Went in with $100 and left with $155.

This room is a serious adjustment. I usually book early and get the same room on lido deck. Since I booked late, Lido was sold out. If you are in the elevator lobby between Guys Burger and Blue Iguana and you go down one flight of stairs and I’m the first room around the corner. It’s easy access to Lido. But yesterday I found myself walking to one end of the ship or the other, then going upstairs and having to walk down the long hallway. I’m just not used to being in the middle of the ship. Several times I’ve caught myself walking to my normal Lido room location. I just hope it doesn’t happen one of these nights after midnight.

Manol wanted me to try a Bourbon drink.

Dinner

I normally would get creme brûlée when it is on the menu. This time I’m trying the hazelnut cake.

Cabin

After dinner I ran to the room to change into something more comfortable. Then I headed to the comedy club for Just June’s family friendly show. I was eight minutes late. After this I’m going over to the casino to see if I can get a seat at the bar for some of the Monday night football game. If not, we’ll see. Alchemy, blackjack, or the Motor City show will be going on in the main lounge.

Casino Bar

The Alchemy was loaded but I got basically the same seat I had yesterday in the casino for football. There’s space available. I guess most people are either at the early dining or getting ready for late dining.

Now the bar is full. It’s standing room only. People are pulling up chairs. They had three of like 7-8 TVs on the game and the rest on Italian soccer. This lady in the back screams.

”Put the game on all the TVs. Don’t nobody wanna watch that soccer.”

A couple minutes pass with no action taken and the lady screams out.

”Now change that channel like I said boy. Don’t nobody wanna watch that soccer.”

Now we have the game on all of the TVs and they turned the volume up.

I’m planning on hitting the Just June adult comedy show at 9:30. I have a feeling tonight’s comedy shows will be some of the most crowded of the cruise. Sea day today. Sea day tomorrow. Fortunately I’m a bar dweller which is the last place most people want to sit. I’ve seen a lot of people going to the back of the ship which is the direction of the comedy club. I’ll head that way in 15-20 minutes.

Comedy Club

I just got to the comedy club. This is going to be a packed house. There are seven people at the bar already and a couple saving seats. I think I barely got the last seat that wasn’t taken or saved.

We’ve gone to standing room only.

Alchemy Bar

I lucked out again. Right after comedy ended there were two great seats open at alchemy. I’m going to hang here till around 11 and then hit the last comedy show at 11:15.

This is a good band in Ocean Plaza.

This is a Maria drink. It’s really good.

Comedy Club

Talk about luck. I come into the comedy club 15 minutes before the show. The bar is full. The entire place is filling up. I order a beer and decide to stand at the end of the bar. The all the sudden two people right next to me leave.
