Lucha Libre in Cozumel

I booked the Lucha Libra Wrestling Show through Carnival after another excursion of mine was canceled. It costed $80 on Carnival and $70 through other companies. I booked with Carnival because I received a discount due to my other excursion being canceled and I get a 10% statement credit using my Carnival Mastercard for excursions.

This is a new excursion which only had four reviews at the time. All were five stars. Now it has 55 reviews and all are five stars.

My ticket said to meet by sign 5.

We are on our way to the bus.

This is our guide Eric. He gave us an overview of Cozumel as well as Mexican wrestling. We are taking two taxi vans to the arena which is basically across the street.

We were given these wristbands.

Eric passed out masks after we took our seats.

Before we left Eric took orders on who wanted alcoholic or non-alcoholic margaritas. We got a margarita and a mask with the tour.

They did what was essentially three matches including some tag team.

Afterwards they have a Q&A. These are real professional wrestlers from Mexico City. They don’t speak English so it was all translated.

One of the questions was worst injuries. The guy in the green pants talked about his broken collarbone. This one is showing us his elbow he messed up jumping from the top rope and landing on the floor.

After that they took pictures and signed autographs. I passed on both but later thought I probably should’ve just had them sign my mask.

This is where the wrestler’s come out.

They have some medical equipment in case of an emergency.

They have a gift shop where you can buy masks, hats, shirts, etc.

I remember the description saying tacos would be available for purchase but it’s closed. I think this may have been due to a holiday. Eric mentioned something about people don’t normally work today.

They have bathrooms in another building.

We’re going to taste a couple types of tequila including a caramel one. Also lime margarita and grasshoppers.

Now you can buy your pictures. They are framed and cost $35.

Eric said this is a new tour. It’s been running six months. He said by the end of the year they expect to have eight wrestlers.

I really enjoyed this tour and would recommend it. I would consider going again if it had more wrestlers or different wrestlers. I’ve looked at some of the recent review pictures and it looks like they do have different wrestlers now than when I went.
