I Have a Dream: Nassau

on
April 10, 2019

Good morning. We are in Nassau with the ship I spent my first three cruises on, Carnival Elation.

First cruise was on Elation in room R1 which I believe should be the bottom right two portholes. Having no idea how to choose a room at the time…the thought process was if I got too drunk to remember my room number, first deck, first room.

John Watling’s Distillery

This tour is free. They gave us free pina colada samples—really really good pina colada samples. This is a 1700’s house that at first housed the general assembly and governors council…and later became the home of the Chief Justice. The House was also used as the Nambutu Embassy in the James Bond Casino Royale movie

The distillery is in this barn looking thing out back.

Junkanoo Beach

Crossing the street to Junkanoo beach right here except on the other side of where this car is turning out. A car was turning the other direction. This little pos car pulls out right when I’m in the middle of the street and puts his bumper to my knees. I didn’t think he was going to stop..but he did. I had my hand on his hood and was prepared to hop on his car..which wouldn’t be good for his car.

I don’t know if they know all of the words we use in America or not…if not…I expanded this guy’s vocabulary a bit. I get across the street and this guy working over there says “that guy tried to mow you down!”

Fort Charlotte

Talk about historic items!

Pompey Square

If you want to take a picture of yourself laying in the grass without having to lay in the grass, this is the place to go.

Parliment Square

Public Library

This is the library. It used to be a jail in the 1700’s. Supposedly there’s a dungeon in the basement.

The Queen’s Staircase

The Queen’s staircase was carved by slaves in the 1700’s to have quick access to Fort Fincastle in the event of an attack.

This is at the top. Apparently more people like to walk down it than up it.

Fort Fincastle

They call this the Bon Jovi room.

Fort Montagu

Fort Montagu was locked so you couldn’t get inside. It wasn’t worth the cost of the cab fare to get to that end of the island. Not to mention it was difficult to catch a cab back. When I finally did we were caught in rush hour traffic.

Lunch

Back on the ship. I haven’t eaten since breakfast so I grabbed a ringer and fries from Guy’s burgers.

Red Frog Rum Bar

Red’s Remedy

The Cruiser

Sail Away

Dinner

Cream of Broccoli

Conch Fritters

Mahi Mahi

Buttered Popcorn pot de cream – probably not a good pic. It’s basically a Carmel Custard with some cracker jacks popcorn on top.

Alchemy Bar

Youthful and Bold

Better White Russian (all alcohol)

Revved up mojito martini

This is a pineapple coconut thing with coconut rum, Bacardi, and chambord…whatever that is.

This is a coconut strawberry vodka drink.

Unicorn shot

If it doesn’t look right that’s because I jumped on the bed first and the head fell off.

I have had it with this everyday art auction mail. I’m opting out.
